Your old high school team vs. your son's.....

Featured Replies

I put my letter jacket on last month for my son and started singing "Fat guy in a little coat" just like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy. Even more I put on my jersey and the edge of the front numbers on my jersey where on my side. Just like the NFL's offense lineman of today. The only problemn was I was not wearing shoulder pads. I think it has shrunken over the years.

At least your head still fit through the jersey!!! If you could still snap the jacket you are doing something right.:thumb:

WOW !!! What a topic. I will have to agree with Braveheart on this one, Ashland 2006 is much bigger and stronger than Ashland 1981 but I know A-81 had a whole lot more heart than 2006 and most of the time the team with more heart will win. :D

Maybe they are bigger today, I would have to look. Personally, being 5'8 and a RB everybody was always and still is bigger than me. I never cared about size. All I know is that the majority of guys I played with were a lot meaner and hit alot harder. The size of the fight in the dog was bigger in my day. (80's)

I went to Cov Cath and got mine in the 80's. they are the ugliest things you'd ever want to see. Kind of reminds me of a bad rip off of navy P-coat. I can still button it if I breath in, but I ain't wearing it out of the house any time soon. HAHAHAH!:D

I've told my boy MANY times that the Conner Cougars of 1980 would run roughshot over his team.

We didn't have jackets. We went old school and had letter sweaters. Yes, I still have mine and will occasionally break it out. My kids thinks it is very strange.

Frankfort 1990

vs

Frankfort 2006

Sorry but our squad would hand my sons squad a harsh but kicking. The 1990 Panthers had too much speed and was physical. 1990 Panthers enjoyed delivery pain to the oppentent. Something the current young lads don't understand.

Fields and Robinson would quit by halftime and Coach Foley would be asking for forgiveness.

BTW that was the last time Frankfort won a regional title. Lost to Russellville in the state semi-finals.

Frankfort 1990 - 60

Frankfort 2006- 0

I think the technical term for the condition you are suffering is"delusions of

grandeur"   NOBODY on your team could catch EJ Fields running

BACKWARDS!!!

I agree with what you are saying, but my son has me by nearly 100 pounds and leap years ahead as far as weight training so it does make me wonder sometimes. All of this along with the fact that I don't remember even seeing guys as big as him or some of his buddies on the teams we played against.

But like I said I had heart. :D

GREAT TOPIC

I graduated from Corbin in 2005 vs my Father in 1982 a State Champ Team.

I'm posting this from second hand information since my father hasn't gotten into the entire cyber world of Bluegrasspreps LOL

According to him and his buddies, we had a minor size and overwhelming speed advantage over the old Redhound team, but it would have been a very good game in terms of smashmouth football.

This is really interesting from the perspective of a tradition rich program like Corbin. If the style of play hasn't really changed much over the past decade or two...it makes you wonder how players have been plugged into positions on the same team from yourself going back 20+ years to your father...:thumb:
