DeSales 19 Saint Xavier 16

Turnovers and missed red zone opportunities on the road is a recipe for an upset. No one is handing championship trophies on August 17th. Good luck to both teams throughout the season.

First, congrats to DeSales. I am sure my cousins, who all played at DeSales, all "slept" in this morning.

We seem to have some excuses, but the REASONS are turnovers and inability to score in the red zone. We appear to have been outplayed. The good news is that these can be corrected.

Congrats to DeSales on the huge win. I can’t help but wonder if the outcome would have been different if St. X’s starting QB was healthy but either way this is an impressive win by DeSales. 2A is on notice.

When you have 150 kids you should have at least 5 or 6 kids who can play qb.

I don’t care how many they have. No team will be fully effective on 3-4 days of preparation with a new QB compared to a month of preparation with an entirely different QB.

Agreed. And 45 rushing yards is not going to get it either.

X only had 45 rushing yards? Yikes. That’s all you need to know.

Even if you have 20 that can play QB, if you work one QB all through camp and have to make a change less than a week before the game, it’s going to cause issues.

X played good with a backup qb when Ridder didn't missed a couple games a few years ago.

And I imagine they’ll play better against BG when they get two full weeks of practice in with the new QB.

If you think their offense shouldn’t have skipped a beat when they replaced their QB last week then this conversation is pointless. Especially when some say their QB is their best player.

One would think, but there’s a reason why players start and players are backups. QB played fine, just some costly turnovers and inability to run the football. It’s the first game things will work themselves out especially with a bye week.
