August 14, 20188 yr There are more elite golfers now than there ever has been before. That’s not an opinion it’s a fact. A lot of these guys are mental freaks. It's not a fact. Mid 90's - mid 00's there were a lot of elite golfers. They just had the bad luck of being elite when the GOAT was in his prime. In the late 90's David Duval was as dominate as anyone I can remember not named Tiger. Who knows what he could have done had he not had issues that basically ended his career.

While it is true that 266 is the lowest number of strokes he's had in a major, it's a bit misleading as par was only 70 on that course. Considering golf is scored in relation to par he has had multiple other majors in which he scored equally as well or better. 1997 Masters -18 2000 Open -19 2000 PGA -18 2001 Masters -16 2005 Open -14 2006 Open -18 2006 PGA -18

If the measure is multiple majors we are basically talking about Koepka, Speith, and Mcllroy. Of those two Speith and Mcllroy are the only two with sucess outside of the majors. If you watched Duval at his best he was unbelievable.

If the measure is multiple majors we are basically talking about Koepka, Speith, and Mcllroy. Of those two Speith and Mcllroy are the only two with sucess outside of the majors. If you watched Duval at his best he was unbelievable. JT, DJ, Spieth, Rory, Day, Reed, Koepka, Rahm, Dechambeau, Fleetwood, Rickie. These are just the guys 30 and younger. That doesn’t include guys like Rose, Stenson, Bubba. You won’t find anyone who knows the ins and outs of the golf world who thinks their were better players in the late 90’s early 00’s than there are now. The fact that there are so many great young players now is because of Tiger. Tiger is part of the reason guys like DJ and Koepka are even playing golf. Both were ridiculously good athletes in other sports. Couple that with the fact that we now know more than ever about the science behind the golf swing due to technology like Trackman, SAM, K- Vest, etc. couple that with the fact that golfers actually train like athletes now and it’s impossible to come to the conclusion that golfers aren’t better now than they were 15-20 years ago.

DJ is 34 so not under 30. Rickie folds under the pressure every major. Rahm, Dechambeau, and Fleetwood have less than 10 tour wins between and 0 Majors. Stenson is Tigers age, Bubba is 39, and Rose is 38. They are Tigers generation. Like I said, other than Spieth, Rory, and Koepka none of these young guns are dominating majors.
