Numbers were decent not overwhelming. They were a little smaller ( stature teamwise ) than I would like to have for a grueling 6a schedule. You don't get to pick your kids in Hs, play who you got and work at it.

I was there. FTN was spot on. Ryle had a new toy with Vince Rankin playing. They seamed to be loaded at WR which is unfortunate since their touches are limited. I wonder where Max Inabnit will end up being utilized the most. If it were me I’d play him anywhere on Offense. England looked really good. I’m a big dude, I think he could stiff arm me. It is very apparent his time was well spent in the weight room, definitely didn’t skip leg day

 

I think Max will see some time in the slot it's the perfect place for him. Good hands, can outrun Lb's, is as good as a RB once he get's the ball. We have a ton of viable pass catchers this year. If Jake can spread the ball around efficiently and accurately we should be very difficult to defend and the run game should benefit from not having loaded boxes all the time.

I got a brief report on the Cooper vs. Ryle Scrimmage today or the Warm Up Battle of Union.

 

Ryle Dominated.

 

Cooper has a shifty, but vocal, QB that had limited success but again Ryle Dominated.

 

Cooper may have the smallest 6A Football Team in Kentucky.

 

My source believes the game will be a Ryle Running Clock victory for the Raiders in the regular season.

 

I wasnt there to see the scrimmage today. So I just have to go by what you all say. However, If I remember correctly last year Ryle couldn't even put a running clock on Cooper. And Ryle imo may not be as good this year as they were last year, and Cooper should be better than last year. Ryle from games I seen has always been much bigger than Cooper. Even during the years when Cooper won 3 out of 4 against Ryle before Ryle won the last 2 years. So size typically hasn't mattered much in the matchups. I think when they play again in the regular season, I think some will be very surprised with how the game plays out.

Ryle is 8-3 against Cooper.

It'll be interesting to see how Ryle does at Trinity next week. According to some, T is struggling on offense. Ryle may have success against the Rocks this year.

 

I don't see it. But that's why they play the games.

 

As for the scrimmage today. I'm sure it was good for both teams. Now the coaches on both sides have film, that they could use to teach their kids more. Plus for the kids it's always better to get to compete against someone else rather than own teammates every day. I think it's a positive that the state allows 2 scrimmages for everyone now. Imo it's hard for us fans of high school football to read to much into what happens in a scrimmage, but definitely valuable for teams and coaches.

Correct, not total game situation, 10 plays on O, then switch back and forth. Ran inside run for a bit also. It was full go except on QB's. So you still could see how the teams O and D matched up against each other. It wasn't two hand touch so there was full contact competition.

Last years game was a 20 point win with 4 turnovers in the 1st half. Ryle’s D held them to negative rushing yards if I recall. Hard to use last years game as a barometer.

I wish Rankin had not stopped playing football for a while. He's a big, athletic guy. He will be hard to cover for smaller DBs. Played QB when I saw him as a freshman.

And finally, Ryle is the team to beat in Boone County. All three of the other programs are coming back from difficult seasons. I know the least about Conner but it seems like Cooper may have another year to go to get back to the top of their game. Of course Boone is just trying to change the culture this year. Lots of emphasis on leadership and kids stepping up. I think this year will be the first step in a multiple year journey back for Boone. We need more kids in our Pee Wee feeder system to stay at Boone for High School.

Rankin definately could have had some really good seasons had he not stopped to concentrate on BBall.
