July 18, 20188 yr Who does everyone think are the top 10 contenders to make the College Football Playoff? 1. Alabama 2. Clemson 3. Ohio State 4. Wisconsin 5. Georgia 6. Washington 7. Michigan 8. Auburn 9. Miami 10. Notre Dame
July 19, 20188 yr 1. Vanderbilt 2. Ole Miss 3. Wake Forest 4. Pittsburgh 5. Rutgers 6. Indiana 7. Kansas 8. Iowa St. 9. Oregon St. 10 Arizona St.
July 19, 20188 yr 1. Alabama 2. Florida State 3. Washington 4. Penn State 5. Ohio State 6. Clemson 7. Notre Dame 8. Central Florida 9. Miami 10. Oregon
July 19, 20188 yr If the basis is truly contenders vs who the best teams are then I think the best way to determine this is simply take the 2 best teams from each P5 conference and those are your top contenders. -Alabama -Georgia -Ohio State -Penn State -Clemson -Florida State -Oklahoma -TCU -Washington -USC After that I think you have to include teams like Auburn, Wisconsin, Michigan St., and Miami, and ND as legit contenders. Then some schools that may have the talent but I don’t trust to get over the hump or their road is just too tough I.e. Michigan, VT, and LSU.
July 19, 20188 yr Will FSU or PA ST be in the mix? Yes. PSU is a top 5 team in the country and FSU is going to again take their place as the second best team in the ACC and as the top challenger to Clemson. Would be shocked to not see both FSU and PSU playing games with playoff implications late in November.
July 19, 20188 yr Abysmal 2017 and a new coach in 2018, I need to see it too believe it this year for Florida State. I’m sure they have talent though. I think the ACC is Clemson’s by a wide margin.
July 19, 20188 yr The inside scoop from friends in Los Angeles is that the freshmen QB at USC is even better than Darnold, and will be playing behind the top O-line in the Pac-12 with 4 returning starters. However, Fight On magazine doesn't even show him starting, so who knows.

July 19, 20188 yr FSU is always a fraud until proven otherwise, especially with a new coach at the helm. Clemson will win the ACC without much trouble, IMO.
July 19, 20188 yr Better than Miami? That’ll be a solid jump for FSU in Year One with Taggart. I think Miami was a little fluky last year. FSU has significantly better talent IMO. FSU has the best running back in the ACC and 2 QB’s with experience. I think Taggert will have a huge impact on that team.
July 19, 20188 yr FSU is always a fraud until proven otherwise, especially with a new coach at the helm. Clemson will win the ACC without much trouble, IMO. Always? I agree Clemson is still leaps and bounds above anyone in the ACC, but FSU is definitely near the top of that next tier with Miami and VT.

However, Fight On magazine doesn't even show him starting, so who knows. The kid is a stud, but I believe he’s only 17 (skipped last year of HS) so it’s hard for me to believe he comes in and plays any where near the level Darnold did.

I think Taggert will have a huge impact on that team. Miami's defense was fairly solid last year and if they keep that rolling, they're the clear favorite to win the Coastal. That non-Clemson path to the ACC Championship game might give them better odds to get to the playoff than a more talented FSU team.
July 19, 20188 yr Always? I agree Clemson is still leaps and bounds above anyone in the ACC, but FSU is definitely near the top of that next tier with Miami and VT. I mean traditionally, FSU has been and will almost always be in the Top 1/3 of the ACC. But they don't scare me anymore. :lol2:
