August 4, 20188 yr I think it’s a slim chance FSU is a CFP contender. They’ll be the second best in the ACC by a wide margin, but they have Clemson on their side of the division and they’ll win the ACC. So I’d say FSU is 1-2 years away from being a CFP contender again.

Miami begs to differ. I think FSU can be #2 in the ACC this year, but they certainly can't claim it preseason by a wide margin. Heck, the coaches have Virginia Tech ranked ahead of them.

Heck, the coaches have Virginia Tech ranked ahead of them. Miami squeaked by last year against a horrid FSU defense. Same Miami team, better FSU team. FSU is favored against VaTech. Clemson, FSU, Miami, VT are the top 4 but the latter 2 aren’t better than the former.

August 4, 20188 yr I mean, I agree that I think FSU will ultimately be better. I'm just saying - wide margin? That's a harder sell. Maybe not wide, but definitely comfortable. The addition of Mickey Andrews back to help defense is huge. So I see a drastic difference between last year and this year.
August 6, 20188 yr How can anyone not have OSU in their top ten? I don't care what's going on with the coaching, they should be there. I agree talent wise they probably are top 3 in talent alone. But I think say if Urban were to get fired, OSU would end up losing 2 or 3 and out of the top 10. I think some of the osu fans on here who have questioned Urban a lot and how he does things recently the last 2 years will quickly realize how great of a job he does and wasnt just about having talent.

I don’t think anyone really knows what OSU looks like without Urban. I’m thinking pretty positively because Urban has put together a fantastic staff, arguably the best in the country, but who really knows how they will keep everything together? As big of a homer as I probably am I can’t tell you that they can go to Happy Valley and to East Lansing and get wins without Urban. Either way, there is a reason OSU paid Ryan Day the second million dollar contract for an assistant coach in the history of college football. They expect him to be a top contender for the job whenever Urban decides to step down anyways. He’s going to make a great HC someday. Anyone that tells you anything about OSU without Urban besides we don’t know, is a liar.
August 6, 20188 yr To be honest the coaching drama has nothing to do with it. They struggle to win through the Big10. IMO they will lose 3 (TCU, Perdue, Michigan) games this year (with Urban & without the drama). They haven't been the same since Clemson embarrassed and emasculated them in the playoff. Big 10 has been pretty weak the past 2 years, and I dont see them being a top 4 team in the Big10. Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State and Iowa will have better seasons. You may believe different, that's ok, but OSU is always all world this time of year and are a disappointment and an afterthought in January. All this drama is just another garbage bag on the dumpster fire. They’ve lost 8 games in 6 years. Yeah, always a dissapointment alright... :lol2:

IF and big IF (because I think Urban comes back) he doesn't come back do you think they will undermine Day's authority.
August 6, 20188 yr Why do you think they chose Day to be interim over Schiano or Wilson. IF and big IF (because I think Urban comes back) he doesn't come back do you think they will undermine Day's authority. Multiple reasons. 1) Both Schiano and Wilson have their own PR issues from the past and the media will have a field day with them naming one of them interim. 2) Day is on the short list to replace Urban 3) Most believe Schiano and Wilson will probably take a head coach opportunity elsewhere. As for your other question, no I don’t think they will. Day is the highest paid assistant on the staff and is extremely well respected. I don’t foresee that being an issue.

I hope Urban did the right thing and is able to come back. He's good for CFB. Let it play out and get all the facts first.
