Pete sued him for defamation. In court papers, Pete admitted he had a relationship with a girl he thought was 16 in 1975, which is legal age for consent in Ohio. Dowd settled out of court before Pete could be deposed. Pete was 34 or 35 at the time married with 2 kids.
