 That stuff is history. We are talking about this season and beside it takes more than one person to win a game. P C had the better team, end of story. It all hype til the season starts and then the players decide who is the best.

Agree! We need to focus on this season.

I did however use that particular scenerio to rebut Lucky Charm's comments about this year's Mustangs' "mental toughness."

I further agree that WITH Pat Elliot PCo was the better team - BUT without him, Belcher could not defend the post and Brossart would have certainly had the upper hand. In that case, one player did make a HUGE difference.

For an outsider looking in those things don't factor nearly as large as for those of us who were directly affected, are still stinging, and still wonder "What If???"

Let's assume for a moment that Mark Mains' AAU coup fails to land Patrick Elliot from Jackson County in a Wildcat uniform in 04-05, giving them the big man presence needed to neutralize the Mustang inside game.

The 2004-05 (Smith, McDole, Schenk, Anderson, Reilly, McCarthy, and Cooper) Mustangs then cruise through 38th District and the 10th Region Tournament, win big on Saturday night in the Fieldhouse and go on to play in Rupp.

Meanwhile, their "little brother" '07 Mustangs are busy winning the 10th Region Freshmen Tournament in 03-04, going 23-0 while winning the JV MCIT and 38th JV District Tournaments as well as the NKAC Division II title in 04-05 as sophs, and then last year playing a varsity season where they win the Ashland Invitational, the 37th District Tournament, and lose in the 10th Semis (along with Brad Seiter, Adam Franzen, and Kyle Lubbers) in preparation for embarking on a title run their senior year in 06-07.

Excuse me, but if Mr. Elliot doesn't transfer to PCo to bolster that Wildcat lineup - would we be questioning the mental toughness of a program and a bunch of guys who have done nothing but succeed in their three years here????

Sorry LC, we normally agree but in this case - I think not! :p

No offense to you and BGreen, but freshman and JV stats just don't add up when it comes to getting results on the varsity level. Back in that day of the JV dominence, the varsity was stacked with size and talent so where were the current guys going to play on the varsity level? They didn't, they just played on the JV level and dominated. How would have Brossart's JV/freshman team been if all the 2000 guys got to play together through out?

JV and freshman stats just don't hold up when it comes to varsity ball.

The whole Pendelton Co. thing was just tough luck.

Those were some great Brossart teams, but they didn't have to face Pendleton's career best teams or a kid named Lofton from Mason!! They also included a couple of kids named Seiter, who were among the best to ever wear the green and white!!

Per Mustang's point, let's reserve judgement on the '07 edition; and if they underachieve (which to date they haven't), then question their mental toughness!!

You can pretty much judge from last years team, its the same minus 2-3 players. They just don't seem that tough, I'm not sold. Don't get me wrong, I want to be sold, I've just not seen it yet.;)

I hate putting our guys on trial.

My point is that they have done everything that we have asked them to do to this point and more. If, as you say, they don't have it, then you will be right and we will be wrong. I think that you would probably prefer to be wrong in this case.

Only time will tell!

I think you summed my opinion up completely.:thumb:

I would love to know how a thread which starts out as someone asking about how the 10th region will be this year, turn into another bashing of PC, the "recruiting process of Pat Elliott", and how conveniently a teaching position became available at this time? I have nothing but respect for Brossart and I think they have a great program but the bottom line is the fact that in recent history each program has one regional title apiece and that is what people tend to talk about, not who won the lower Campbell County 5th grade Catholic League title seven years ago. Lets move on.

I think if Bracken Co. could take out Brossart with what they had in the district three years ago PC could do the same without Elliot the next year. They will probably get to knock PC around this year but as for winning the region don't count on it.

Maybe if Brossart could keep the kids that live closer to Brossart and attend NCC or CCH or even CCHS for that matter, then maybe they would have beat PC.

Then they would have played a 2-3 and Brossart would have had to shoot outside, which wasn't a good move. Maybe if 6'8" Keaton Belcher hadn't picked your 6'6" PG's pocket late in the game...... Maybe if Brad had been as good as Justin or Nathan..... Maybe if Kane had played all year he would have been able to handle the post late in the season.

O.K. - I agree - We've gone off on a tangent here.

My intent wasn't to drag out old skeletons, and or "bash" PCo. It was intended to state that if things had gone well for the '05 team, would anyone be challenging the mental toughness of the '07 team.

Agree - Move on!

Can you stop posting things that make sense? I'm not real big on agreeing with Brossart fans. :D

Could some of you all post some dates of your big games. GRC plays Mason at GRC Feb 9th. The place will be packed..:ylsuper:
