Was this a random shoot at any target thing or a shooting of specific targeting of an individual?

Sure sounds like a targeted attack against a specific individual from what I read.

Just a couple of days ago I was wondering if we would make it though the rest of the school year without another shooting.

What type of gun(s) were used?

The Sheriff refuses to release any detail about the shooter, motive, gun type, anything. All he will say is that it has been verified that the shooting was targeted against an specific student. That student was hit in the ankle. No other students were injured. The SRO was able to engage and subdue the shooter without firing their weapon.

At around 8:39 a.m., a school resource officer heard a "loud, bang sound. Gun shot," from the high school described Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods during a news conference. He would not say where in the building it happened.

Three minutes later, the unnamed officer found a 17-year-old student shot with non-life threatening injuries. The officer did not fire his weapon and was able to engage the shooter, who was taken into custody, Woods described.

April 20th is also Adolf Hitler's birthday, Columbine massacre happened April 20, 1999, and the BP Oil disaster April 20, 2010.

April 19th also has its share... Waco '93, Oklahoma bombing '95, and while the Boston Marathon bombings happened on April 15, 2013, they finally found suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hiding in a boat on the 19th.

He bought it online with no background check.

I saw this guy gave an interview.

'I want to be put away:' An interview with the Ocala school shoo - NBC-2.com WBBH News for Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Naples, Florida

The article said he bought it privately, not online. He would have had to undergone some kind of background check, had he bought it online.

I've purchased several weapons online and have won one in a contest. All had to be shipped to and picked up at a local gun store.

My understanding is that under federal law, any online firearm purchase must be done dealer to dealer. If you buy a weapon online, legally, not through the Dark Web, it cannot be delivered to your home, it has to be delivered and picked up at a licensed gun dealer. Once the weapon is received at a licensed dealer in Florida, it falls under the law of the jurisdiction in which it was received. I believe Florida law requires a background check for every firearms purchase and a 3 day waiting period for hand guns. Some counties require a 3 day waiting period in addition to the background check for all weapons. Where I live requires the waiting period.

You are correct. If sold online the gun must be shipped to a licensed dealer so they can complete the background check. The seller/shipper does not have to be a licensed dealer though.
