March 30, 20188 yr Now if they made changes to the last draft of the old bill while amending it to the wastewater bill then it should have had a new actuarial review done yes. That's what I was thinking, but I don't believe a review was done. I was under the impression that was illegal.
March 30, 20188 yr I would by that if the non funding of the retirement plans had just happened in the last few years. Its happened for almost 2 decades......DECADES.... and those on the plans sat on their hands and did nothing. Now that someone is trying to address the situation (that they allowed to happen) its a big issue. I guess I’m guilty of sitting on my hands. Not sure what you are supposed to do when you’re told everything will be fine and it will work out. The old “it’s your fault because you let it happen” could be thrown up in every situation ever. I don’t know what good it does to blame the victims, but fire away guys.
March 30, 20188 yr That's what I was thinking, but I don't believe a review was done. I was under the impression that was illegal. The review process to 80% (or even more) of these bill types are nothing more than a dog and pony show. If you follow me...
March 30, 20188 yr That's what I was thinking, but I don't believe a review was done. I was under the impression that was illegal. The KY Attorney General says that he is going to file a suit to stop it. I guess we shall see.

March 30, 20188 yr There will also be a lot of people who use and exploit this situation for professional gain. Somebody is going to get all these new 401ks.

The old “it’s your fault because you let it happen” could be thrown up in every situation ever. I don’t know what good it does to blame the victims, but fire away guys. My issue with it is that "the educational personnel as a whole" sat and let it happen, knowing the current education commissioner at the time was allowing it, and even approved it in committee hearings, and nothing happened because of it. Sure it started as a 1 year 2 year thing, State will put the money back......but after year 5, 6, no money put back, dont you speak up at that point, dont you do something about it. OR Is the education unit as a whole in the state afraid to speak up due to repercussions (where in their own district or state wide)?
March 30, 20188 yr The KY Attorney General says that he is going to file a suit to stop it. I guess we shall see. As he should, thats his job as AG, but that is also going to spend more tax dollars the state doesnt have and make the funding situation worse, so does he really care about the pension funding........or does he care about being the next governor.
March 30, 20188 yr There will also be a lot of people who use and exploit this situation for professional gain. It just switches to Federal government oversight. The IRS has oversight over all 401K plans.
March 30, 20188 yr To get back on course. I am sorry Teachers, but "they" are coming for you too! Correct! No different than the private sector. You don't want me to share my woes right now.

March 30, 20188 yr There will also be a lot of people who use and exploit this situation for professional gain. ...and we know who one of those is.
