With all due respect, if you think for an instance that starting the year off going 0 and 5 (last year), starting 0 and 3 (this year); losing 5 (going to be 6) games per year, losing four consecutive years to South, 3 straight losses to Bell County, thrown in with embarssing performances such as Middlesboro are acceptable, then you are either blind, or wanting to kiss up to those responsible for this mess.

Heck, it took us 4 games to beat a rebuilding single A team at home by 13 points. Pulaski Co. has only won 2 games and we can only muster 23 points against each district opponent (We haven't beaten a quality opponent in two years!). My queestion to you is, given the facts above, how can this scenerio be acceptable for Redhound Football?

Its Not!!!!!!

That is not what is expected year in and year out by coaches, fans, fair weather fans, or critics.

I think Corbin is beginning to go through what we at Williamsburg see. Small schools, a really good class coming through every 3 to 5 years, and the fact kids have too many choices these days and one's high school memories aren't as tied to playing as they once were. Kinda sad as my fondest memories and closest friends are tied to my HS and College playing days.

Anytime Corbin doesn't go deep in the playoffs and make a run at the state they fall short of their goal...when that stops being the goal the program is dead. People must understand that with pride and tradition comes expecations...like winning another state title. The struggles are obvious on this young team. They have less than 6 seniors that contribute and are 6 pts away from being an 8 win team this year. The team is composed of mostly sophomores and juniors that simply haven't grown up as quickly as hoped by fans, coaches, and team-mates. I have every faith that the lackluster seasons will be forgotten next season...and I also have a very calm feeling about the playoffs, Corbin may just work out the kinks and have a good run.

I really like how many are pointing fingers at the staff...the same staff that was "the best we've seen" after taking an average team to the state title game only to be exposed by Breathitt Co. Of course everyone isn't going to agree with everything a coach does, but Monday morning QBs don't help matters much...they discourage the fan-base, parents, students, faculty, and most importantly the players.

I had a player approach me over the weekend to ask me what I thought about the coaches expecting to get the same old answer he'd been getting from many Corbin "faithfull". I told him they aren't doing anything they differently than they did when they were winning 10-12 games per year. I told him everything just didn't come together early in the season the way they would have liked, but it is a new season now...the playoffs are about two weeks away and anything can happen, just stay positive and disregard all the distractions outside the team...those can ruin a great team much less one that is a little down on itself!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Post!

Not everyone realizes or want's to realize the 6 points from an 8 win season, I had forgot myself.

2 pt loss to Rockcastle

1 pt loss to S. Laurel

3 pt loss to Bell

The loss to Oldham County is hard to explain other than the fact they just out quicked us and the Middlesboro game was much closer than indicated by the score.

Great post you have allways been better with words:thumb:

You are right, the fans do not expect for us to lose. The expectations are to win. Losing as many as you win is simply not acceptable.

Things are a little rough and will get alot better. But this is the same staff that everybody was so amazed with until this past two years. So don't call for the lynch mob when things don't go exactly how people think they should because of a personal thing against a 'couple' of coaches or any other problem with them. The kids are young right now, the play offs and next year will be a different story, when corbin does well next year will people still be bashing coaches? If they go 8-2 in regular season like many season's past will they still need to be gotten rid of? Let me answer it for all the trigger happy fans, NO!

Let's put it like this, both coaches and players shoulder some of the blame. The players aren't performing up to their capablities but it's also the coaches job to prepare them. With that said, I agree that the coaches are doing nothing different than when they were winning 10-11 games a year. The players should take a lot of the blame too because they are the ones not executing on the field.

You can't point to one thing or the other. Yes I think in some games Corbin ran too much. I also think that our players for the biggest part are not much better than they were as freshmen. That could be viewed as lack of development by the coaches or lack of work ethic by the players. The point is, we can argue who is at fault until we are blue in the face. People who don't like the staff will blame them. People who are all about the staff, will blame the players.

I think people just need to realize that it's a team effort and it's just a matter of being on the same page. Once things get on the same page, it will be all good and well and we can shut up with this garbage. The staff is good, the players have talent. End of story!

Excellent insight and good post. And, it's definately not the blind scenario.:D

when was the last team another school had a good team in this district?

Garrard was very good a couple years back, then Taylor and Russell were competitive before moving up. Greene Co. was also good before they went down to 1A. Wayne had some teams above 500 a few years back as well. Casey has always been at the bottom.

Whayne Co. had a very solid team in 02' Corbin 14-13 As did Russell in 01' Corbin 2-0

I know im gonna take a lickin for this but how many quarterbacks in the past few years have come through Corbin with such great potential as freshmen or sophomores, but just never seem to get much better. I think that can be a definite reflection of the coaching situation. Something is wrong when a quarterback comes in and plays as good or better his freshmen or sophomore year as they do their senior year. This does not necessarily pertain to Cashen.
