We found a promotion code that gets you the first 3 months (there's no contracts so you can cancel at any time, whether it be after 1 month or 2 years), for $25 off per month. So for $10 a month we're getting March Madness coverage. Base package includes ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, NBC Sports as far as sports channels go. Also has TNT, TBS, TruTV, HGTV, Food Network, NBC, ABC, USA, FX. So far it's been great. Figured I'd pass it along for those who may be interested in cutting the cord or have recently got rid of their cable.
March 9, 20188 yr Author This may be a silly question, but is a dish required for this service? Nope. You need WiFi, and a fire stick or a Roku or Apple TV though.

We are going to be going this route when we move into our new home a little later this year. I'll be intrigued to hear your thoughts after you use it for a little while. I'm going to miss my DVR for live sporting events, but other than that, this seems more than ideal.

The interface of it is a bit odd. Little things like no "previous channel" button. The guide is much more watered down (no real description of programming i.e. ESPN just says "college basketball" with no details as to who is playing). So little things that aren't really an issue, just different.
March 9, 20188 yr This is getting closer and closer to what I'm looking for. Still too many missing features for me though. It's not compatible (from what I can see) with Smart TV's--you have to use a streaming device, and you can only watch on 2 devices at a time. And we pretty much DVR everything (sometimes 3 or 4 shows at a time). AT&T says they will have DVR service available next year, so I'll certainly be revisiting this. I just switched my cell phone service over to AT&T after almost 20 years with Sprint and am saving close to $200/month in combined savings with ATT and Directv.

As far as those other interface things, I'm not sure that would bother me.
March 9, 20188 yr I would assume a smart tv would work without a fire stick or apple tv? From what I've read and seen, it does not work with a smart tv, unless the smart tv has Chromecast, Amazon Fire or Roku built in. You might also be able to use it if your Smart TV has a web browser. March 9, 20188 yr Author I would assume a smart tv would work without a fire stick or apple tv? Not as of now. We have Smart TVs and it wouldn't work without the fire stick. We also had a fire stick so it was no issue.

March 9, 20188 yr Author No Reds games? Nope. We've been without cable since July though, so we're used to no Reds games. It honestly wasn't as difficult to do without as I had anticipated.

I am using PlayStation Vue now and really like it. It has the DVR function and has Fox Ohio. But they just raised the price to $45 a month and was thinking of switching to NOW. But without Reds games, that may be hard. I’ve been streaming over a year and it is definitely different than regular cable. You can’t really mindlessly change channels. You almost have to be looking for a certain channel/program.

I’ve been streaming over a year and it is definitely different than regular cable. You can’t really mindlessly change channels. You almost have to be looking for a certain channel/program. So I just looked, and regional Fox Sports channels are available with the "Just Right" package on DirecTV Now. It's one step up from the one I got. You get 80 channels, it's $50 a month though.
