Not sure about 'Westsider', but I have seen them both. First off, they are both in different positions, Vanhoose is a 2G and Proffitt is a PG. And regardless of the tooting of horns that Vanhoose can play the PG or Proffitt can play the 2G, the fact is both are most effective at their primary positions.

 

Vanhoose is NOT the quickest player on the court, but knows how to move without the ball and get open. Once open, he doesn't miss. Proffitt on the other hand, is a floor leader that can mix it up and has the fundamentals to lead just about any offensive set you throw at him. Proffitt is not nearly the shooter as Vanhoose is, but Vanhoose does not run the show nor D-up the way Proffitt does.

 

Again, Kentucky high school fans should be excited to see these two go to the next level. They both offer plenty of value to their respective schools. Expect some more top player in the 2007 class to committ in the future.

That is a pretty fair assessment, and I think both kids will be successful at the next level, they are both different style of players, Proffitt is stronger, more physical, more likely to get a 3 point play off an and one, Vanhoose

moves the ball quicker, much better shooter from long range off the dribble, better 3 point shooter and runs the floor better, both will score a lot of points, Proffitt will get more in the paint, Vanhoose will get more outside the paint, just depends on what you need more, they will match up at the KBA showcase at Rupp.

Vanhoose does have much more aau exposure than Proffitt, Proffitt has much more exposure inside the state, plus Proffitt was not that healthy this summer. I would say the aau exposure made the difference in the Street and Smith listing

How many times have you seen Vanhoose play? Have you seen them play together? Proffitt is a very good player, especially if the story on Notre Dame is true, but Vanhoose is for real, you would have had more credibility to question Beaumont or Duncan.

If all you saw was the Rupp game, I can understand your thinking, and your right, that was not a d-1 performance while Proffitt has a state championship ring. That is why most people IN THE STATE would rank Proffitt higher, if you go around the country, the perception is much difference. Bottom line, both are good players, with different styles, both went to conferences that are considered high majors, with the big east probally the highest rated conference right now. My suggestion would be to go to their pre-season matchup at the KBA deal and see what you think. Will be an entertaining game.

I agree is it a glaring omission that Profit was left off.

I've seen both play and think Proffitt should have been on the list. I also think whoever made the comment about the AAU input was dead on.

Would you agree that there is no way AAU coaches can see all the good players when there is so much pressure from different sources to pick certain kids and give them all the exposure. If the adults would stay true and treat every kid equal, then you might have a list.

How do you know it was just one? I didn't say the ones on it weren't deserving.

Sleeper this year... Jeremy Anderson Warren Central. Maybe not Street and Smith but will blossom and turn some heads.

I am very shocked about Vanhoose. Hes not the best player in his region!!!
