Great stuff! Beaumont will not play college hoops. VanHoose is at Evansville. Pettigrew and Brooks are legit. Duncan??? Not sure how that happen. But congrats to all.

That is just seniors. Several underclassmen were also on the list.

Have not heard that much about Duncan either, he is long, but I'm not sure how Street and Smith picks their players, just another list I suppose

everyone kind of forgets about Beaumont because he signed with Louisville in Football, but he is a winner

Give us the underclassmen Ricky P, could the 16th region be leading the state

in Street and Smith?

Who woulda thunk it?

One Question, Who is Chris Duncan?

He is a 6'7" center at Fern Creek that has done very little on the AAU circuit. And according to a Louisville high school source, he has under-performed. There really is no explaination that I could give for him being listed ahead of say, TY PROFFITT or even Matt Walls or numerous outher players.

Streets & Smiths get their info from a hand full of AAU coaches, so it is no surprise that 4 of the five mentioned play for the Derek Smith All-stars.

I don't think any of the 5 should be ranked over Ty Proffitt

Not familiar with Duncan.

Vanhoose over Proffitt?

I don't have he magazine. I was too cheap to buy it I just glanced through at the book store. I remember Darius Miller, Dakotah Euton, and Chad Jackson. There were others I believe but I am drawing a blank.

I believe Scotty Hopson was on the list as well.

What about Bud Mackey committing to Indiana U. Has Tubby lost out on another good KY kid?

No Scotty Hopson and no Bud Mackey. Hopson has 10+ D1 offers to major programs and Mackey has verballed to IU does.

After sending out a few emails and getting responses and making a couple of calls to see how the selection process worked, I learned that the list outside of a couple of names is basically "who you know" kinda thing, but I do know a couple of the names do legitimately belong on the list.

Albeit, it is good to see KY players get some representation no matter how they hit the list.

Nearly all of the players came from the main two (2) AAU team/programs in Kentucky. Does anyone know the names of the coaches of these teams and players?

If Hopson isn't on the list that should tell everyone something right there. I think he's the best player in the state as a Junior. Nice job doing reserch and finding informatin OYPreps, some good stuff man.:thumb:

I'm not sure how the selection process works, I would say it is hard to be seen around the country outside the aau process, but then that still leaves Duncan as a question mark. The fact that 4 of the 5 played for the Derek Smith Program doesn't mean anything as they regularly get the top talent in Kentucky in their program. But there are also some kids that played for Derek Smith that could legitetimately be on the list like Ty Proffitt, Twany Beckham,

and Thomas Coleman. My guesstimate is that about 8 out of the last 10 Mr. Basketball's have played in the Derek Smith Program, and as a coach in the program, I have never talked to anyone from Street and Smith, although I know that they do observe some of the big national tournaments.

It probally comes down to someone's opinion like any other list and Hopson and Mackey may have been missed because they played in the 16u age group this year, which does not get the same coverage as the 17u group.

Miller played up on a 17u group with OJ which gave him some added exposure.

I do know the Street and Smith list has a lot more credibility than a Bolus list

for whatever that is worth.

Not familiar with Duncan.

Vanhoose over Proffitt?

How many times have you seen Vanhoose play? Have you seen them play together? Proffitt is a very good player, especially if the story on Notre Dame is true, but Vanhoose is for real, you would have had more credibility to question Beaumont or Duncan.
