There are three goals for a basketball team:

 

1. Win District

2. Win Region

3. Win State

 

You have no chance at #3 if you don't have #2. So, winning your region is a very important goal.

 

Russell will get #1 & #2 again this year and you never know about #3.

I think Elliott Co. will have something to say about Russell winning the Region.

Some teams are happy with the region championship and thats fine for them. You have to set your expectations high and suceed.

I would say at some point over the next 5 years, Ashland fans would be thrilled to get a Regional Championship, because there is none on the horizon for at least the next 5 years
