I'm definately not disputing that fact at all. Even though it is definately the truth, I just think openly saying it is a poor way to treat the other 20 some kids on the team. What would he do if God Forbid Joe got hurt? Would he come out and say "well since Joe is all we had, I guess we are just going to forfiet because nobody else can do anything?" That's my gripe and only.

I think people shouldn't take comments like that personally. I think Coach Mitchell was just giving an honest answer to his situation there this year. In our feel good society where you cannot speak the truth or be honest, you get criticized for telling the truth.

You know Hound82 maybe Mitchell would address this if he knew how the kids and parents felt..But as long as you and the other people you say are upset keep talking about it behind his back and on here how will he ever know? Why don't you go tell him and bring it to his attention? I think I know what he would tell you and anybody else that wants to know.......

I haven't heard or read any comments from Coach Mitchell but Lynn Camp is definitely 1 dimensional. Even at that I felt like they could have been more successful running Scalf more. The quarterback just got beat up and was physically whipped by the end of the 3rd quarter. This is the most physical I have seen the Jumpers all year.

The first drive that the Campers just ran down our throat had me worried but man our defense finally stepped up and just hit em in the mouth. If the defense continues to improve and the running game keeps producing my early thoughts about us not playing with P-ville and the teams from up north could be proven bad wrong. I sure hope so. The Jumpers were a fun team to watch tonight!!

Anyone who knows anything about coaching knows that you don't make the type of comments that Coach Mitchell made, especially in high school football. Sounds like he needs to work on his PR skills.

Anyone who has posted in anything in this thread against Coach Mitchell knows not one thing about the man. NOT ONE THING!!!! Good stopping point for me, or my time on this site maybe over.

Mitchell's comments about Cumberland game:

 

“We don’t have anybody else to make plays,” Lynn Camp coach David Mitchell said. “That’s what it really boils down to. We can’t throw the ball, and we’re just limited offensively, but I thought (Cumberland) made some good plays.”

 

Mitchell's comments about Somerset:

 

“It seems like they have more success passing than we have running it,” Mitchell said. “They have more options than we have. They can throw the football.”

I went to Web site of paper to read Coach Mitchells comments and IMO he said NOTHING wrong.

It sounds like some Corbin fans trying to stir up trouble. Mitchell didn't say anything that everyone doesn't already know who is familiar with Lynn Camp this year.

Not trying to stir up anything at all. I just felt the comments, while absolutely true, were out of line. I admire his honesty but just think he could have chose his words a little better out of respect for his players feelings and team morale. He's been a good coach for 29 years so he obviously is doing something right. I just felt some words were out of line. I pull for LC each week except if they play Corbin or Cumberland. I know many of the kids, a lot of The Mitchell's, and have nothing bad to say personally.I just didn't agree with this incident.

 

With that said, best of luck to LC against Williamsburg and hopefully they get a shot at the playoffs.

actually i've heard this same comment an the reason he was the only person they had is because he was the only that got the ball the other players got it once or twice a game if they was lucky

Truth is Truth, maybe some of the others kids could use it as Motivation to step up there game. Back in my day Coaches said stuff like this all the time. Of course my team was never very good......

Sometimes the meaning of what you say does not come across the same way in print. I'm sure that if he upset any of the players that Coach Mitchell will set it straight

Joe has had more success than anyone else moving the ball for us this year. Not a well kept secret. Dave and Roskoph both wish that someone would step up and provide the relief, but it's just not there this year. Wagner is out for the year and was providing the other back we needed. No one else has really stepped up this year to show that we had another threat. We have some other guys that can move the ball 1 or 2 yds. a carry, but that's about it. We usually have at least 2 kids flirting with 1000 yds., but this is just a down year. I talk to Coach Mitchell almost every day and he would never blast on the kids that play for him, past or present, especially not in print. If it was twisted from a comment he made, it's not his fault. I re-read the article and did not come up with the same immpression that you did, Hound 82. All in perception, I guess. If we all watched the same game or saw the same event, it would hit us all different. That's just how us humans are.

 

We can all be taken out of context or meaning, and probably all have been at one time or another on here. I have known the man for 30+ years and he has very little negative to say about this program for the 3 decades he has been in charge, even about the so-called "problem players" that every program has. He cares about the kids, believe it or not, and would not intetionally down them. I would'nt let a possible mis-interpretation sum up a person's coaching career.

Coach Mitchell has been known to get a little overboard in the past praising his playeers. He seems to always have a Division I player or two in the preseason.
