Just got home from the game. I hadn't been to MC since I played there a long time ago, it was a great atomosphere tonight. CCH played a great game. Fredrick was very impressive tonight, best I have seen him play in person. His movement without the basketball was great!! He came off screens as well as you can and was constant movement on the offensive end. He did a great job of scoring baskets in the lane and not just looking for the 3. Also, Mayer was great. Kid guarded 3 different positions and if they were keeping stats for deflections tonight he might have set a record. Mayer just does all the little things and when he is playing well CCH is very tough to beat. CCH defensive was great, contested every shot. MC has a nice team but gave up too many layups to CCH. On offensive just never seemed to get in a good flow but CCH defense had a lot to due with it. I was suprised that MC did not pick up full court and put pressure on CCH which has hurt them several times this year.

Video was great. Announcers very complimentary of CC's performance. But, they trashed the devil out of the team...."trash mouthing, arrogant, type of Team you hate unless they are yours". Kind of shocked me to hear some of the accusations. Go Colonels!

Was this from MC cheering section?

Pretty much what I expected.

They were fine. It wasn't mean-spirited.

As an observer, CCHS has gotten the reputation for being pretty chippy and arrogant. I think it’s deserved. Just need to dial it back a bit for the class school they are.

That being said, their defense is crazy good. It’s like they have six players on the court. There are no good shots available against them. I don’t know who has enough scorers to beat them when they’re at full strength. And they don’t even use Walters on offense. I’d press and run them if you’ve got the horses. Not sure anyone does.

Pretty much what I expected.

We know what we saw.

Game story from the Richmond Register:

Ricki Barker [email protected]

The Madison Central boys basketball team had an opportunity to notch yet another big win at home against a higher-ranked team Friday night when they took on Covington Catholic, which was ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press poll.

Unfortunately, the Colonels (26-4) handed the Indians (22-7) their only home loss of the season, breezing past Central, 63-45.

“They kind of wore us down,” Central coach Allen Feldhaus said of Central’s loss. “They are bigger and stronger than we are. The biggest thing is we got off to a bad start.”

The Colonels went on a 7-0 run early in the first quarter, establishing an 18-7 lead over the Indians.

RICHMOND - The state’s No. 1 team saved one of its toughest tests for last. It passed.

Covington Catholic closed out the regular season with a 63-45 win at Madison Central. It was a battle between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams according to the latest edition of Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State.

C.J. Fredrick, a University of Iowa signee, scored a game-high 32 points on 13 of 21 shooting for the Colonels, who won their 14th straight game and improved to 26-4. It was the only loss at home this season for the Indians, who fell to 22-7.

Announcers directed their slights at the Team. At first I attributed it to needing to say something negative about the Team that just handled you so thoroughly. But, it was done so professionally and balanced equally against their compliments, it came off that maybe there was a little crack of truth to what they were saying. If true, it will make quality opponents that much more motivated to knock the Colonels off.

You said it perfect-AJ is the team leader and a total difference maker for this team.

That is a perfect description of CovCath. Ruthsatz has made them the Duke of the 9th Region. Any non-CovCath guy just shook his head and said, “Pretty spot on.” Doesn’t matter bc they just keep winning.

I’m a CCH guy very close to this program and this year’s team, and I don’t disagree.
