Proposal 5

Featured Replies

Does anybody but Jim (call me Mister) Sexton make proposals?

Yes.

Jim "Dont call me Sexton" McKee

I am not totally sure but I heard somewhere that some private school people made a proposal of some sort.:D :D :D :D

Guess Mr. Sexton did not want his proposal to be shot down by the BOC. Or maybe, the delegates would not approve the rest of the proposal with the elimination of the dead period still in there.

Thank goodness that the dead period is still in effect.

The delegates would not have approved it. That is why he removed that part. He has tried to do that the past two years.

I propose " No more proposals from Mr. Sexton "

All in favor ?

Is he not married? Does he not have a life? Is there not a local political office he run for?

Florida is a great place this time of year!

Is there not a local political office he run for?

Tried that (twice), didn't work out real well.

Eliminating the dead period would be -- IMO -- a bad situation. Meaning, a lot of families actually schedule their family vacations around this time frame. You've got to create some time frame for a kid to have some time off. Meaning, don't burn'em out.

Anyone heard anything more on Proposal 5. Someone told me that the BOE kicked it back to the KHSAA for further review. Anyone with some info?

It had passed the KHSAA membership 184-70, and passed the Board of Control 13-4. Last week, both the management committee and full board sent it back to the KHSAA for "further study." Apparently, that may be the polite way of saying "we don't want to reject your proposal but you might oughta take a closer look at this."

Hearsay. Thanks very much for the info!!! At this point I would say that it is doubtful it makes it back to the BOE for implementation by 2007-08 school year(agree/disagree)?

Agreed. Even if it made it to the Board in that time period, I don't think, at the earliest, it would be implemented until 2008-2009.

Hopefully, it is a completely dead idea. May even see something jsut the opposite come back next year. Answer this (all). How come the spring is open (which is an eval period for NCAA to watch boys players), but the fall is closed (which is the NCAA eval period for NCAA to watch girls players)? Anyone see a problem?

Shouldn't Mr. Sexton be concentrating on global warming?
