Davis/Lucas 4th District congressional debate

Featured Replies

There was a debate tonight between Geoff Davis and Ken Lucas on Cincinnati's Channel 9.

I thought Geoff Davis seemed a little shifty; but overall, I think he won the debate. Ken Lucas seemed nervous and disorganized. He may or may not be the better candidate; but I think he made a less-than-spectacular showing in this debate.

Who do you think came out as the winner?

I guess I'm pretty disgusted with politicians right now since neither one seemed credible to me.

I only watched about 10 minutes of the debate. In what little I saw, I thought that Davis had the best showing.

Anyone watch the debate last night?

I have never voted for Davis before. I voted for Lucas every time.

But last night to my surprise, Davis spanked Lucas in the debate. Lucas came across as a tired old man that did not have answers to the questions posed to him. He kept flipping through a notebook when asked a question, seemingly searching for his answers.

When it came to the point for him to directly asked Davis a question. He would flip 2-3 pages, take 10-20 seconds before he asked a question.

Throughout his answers he was consistently reading out of the binder he had.

His answers did not have real information to them.

I drew from the debate that the candidate I have always supported was a tired older man and the candidate I have never liked was a young man with energy and ready to continue to fight in DC. He had specific answers to questions where Lucas did not.

I was very, very surprised on how I viewed the two at the end of the debate.

Anyone else see the debate and how did you feel afterwards?

Sometimes "none of the above" looks pretty good.

I hope so, because that's what this thread's about. ;)

That's what bothered me about Lucas too. It reminded me of the vice-presidential debate where Ross Perot's running mate came off looking like a senile old man.

I too was surprised as I watched the debate, and I like LBBC had voted for Lucas every time he ran for Congress as well as when he ran for Judge Executive of Boone County, but he did look like a tired older gentlemen, whose time at the helm was over when he decided not to run last time. It did indeed change my mind on who to vote for in this election.....

Davis on top of his game. The veteran and person who knows the military issues. Runs ads how he has saved lives in Iraq.

Then, when asked how many killed this past month, his answer is 17.

Lucas thinks the budget is $250,000 in the red.

Frankly, until otherwise noted Campbell County Judge Steve Pendery should be on the stage right now.

I got to give the edge to Davis.

Did anyone notice the conversation of the Erpenbeck scandal. It seems Lucas wrote a letter to the judge asking that the judge take it easy on Erpenbeck in sentencing. Davis called him on it and he said he would do it again.

Not knowing a lot about the story, I thought Lucas looked bad on this.

Anyone know any more of this story?

It was one of Erpenbeck's associates that he wrote the letter for. Apparently, he felt that this guy had just gotten caught up in the scandal and deserved a break.

Okay, thanks. I thought it was Erpenbeck himself. Did I misread that or was that the impression given?

His name was John Finnan.

Davis also went on the attack, defending a campaign ad that criticizes Lucas for writing a judge and asking for leniency for banker John Finnan, who was convicted in 2004 for his role in the Erpenbeck housing scandal that rocked Northern Kentucky.

"It was an act of compassion for a community leader, and I would do it again," Lucas said. "This fella didn't even support me. But I did it because he was a good servant in the community."
