They had him up for a game-day visit. They already had a commitment from a very good QB out of Arizona who did sign with Purdue. Don't think they are taking any more 2018 QBs.

 

Purdue is stacked with QB's with Sindelar and Blough both returning next year from injuries.

 

Jack Plummer is the QB from Arizona Brohm landed for the the 2018 class and an early enroll at Purdue.

Hope he goes somewhere that gives him money. UK not signing any kids in state this year when there was plenty of talent makes me hope that no in state kids walk on either.

Not a big UK football fan in the first place but the idea of them shying away from the talent in their state, makes me like them a whole lot less. Louisville isn't going out of their way to sign KY talent either are they?

I think the philosophy at both places is that the local talent should want to play at the local schools so they concentrate their efforts elsewhere. There are still lots of kids who could get schollys at smaller schools that are perfectly content to walk-on at th school they’ve cheered for all their lives.

You bring up an interesting point, 74. You are correct....Purdue, Marshall, even Vandy, Duke and Miami have all been much more aggressive recruiting Kentucky kids than the In-State Universities. Western hasn't exactly swarmed all over KY talent as it did when Jeff Brohm was there. Shannon Bishop from PRP is the only kid I know from KY that is a commit. It's puzzling. I always thought you tried to keep the best of the local kids home, that it was a priority. Those are the kids who grew up as fans of the programs and would run through brick walls for the name of the front of the jersey. Like I said, puzzling. Others might take it even further....kinda insulting.

Which KY kids should UK have gone after in this class?

From 2014-2017 UK or UL have signed 13 of the top 20 players (Top 5 from each year) from KY per 247. That includes Damien Harris and Jedrick Wills who both went to Alabama and one went who to WKU. So UK or UL they didn’t recruit/sign 5 top 5 players in KY. I understand where you are coming from since I coach KY High School football I love to see KY kids gets scholarships from UK and UL. Congrats to Nick on the Preferred Walk-On, that is a great accomplishment in itself. Work hard every day and you could gain a scholly like Cole Mosier or Charles Walker if you decide to go to BBN!

That's fine, why not every year? There's not at least one kid from this state that could play for UK or UofL? Some years they do look, but all the threads I've read say to me that there is true talent out there and the Big State schools aren't trying to get them. Just my opinion.

The kid that this thread is about. He's only good enough for a PWO? CCH's qb, KY's Mr Football, Trinity's receiver, isn't there a kid from Paintsville (OL) that signed with WVU? The Trice kid from Christian County, Dingle from Bowling Green, just to name a couple. What I am saying, is that there are kids out there and I feel that UK isn't looking to get them. I may be naive, but I just don't get it. I also may be wrong but I believe the kid (Bohn) can do better than a PWO. If that's where he wants to go and what he wants to do, more power to him. In my mind, if UK really wanted him, there'd be some money on the table.

No, that wouldn't be wise on UK's part at all. Dingle-GA Tech, Trice-Purdue, Moore-Purdue. I hope that the kid gets a true opportunity to play as opposed to being one of the better scout team qb's around. Do you know if he's gotten offers from any schools other than D-1 schools.
