I know this is a boys basketball thread, but remember the redistricting of these schools effects multiple sports. I very much doubt the coaches of SK's ladies soccer and basketball teams would want to move to the 9th. Those programs, especially ladies soccer have an easy path straight to the regional tournament. My guess that is why the SK ladies soccer coach wanted the SK job was because he has a better than average chance to get to the regional finals, and chance at state, almost every year.

 

So while fans of SK, like me, may like to see them in the 9th for the local match-ups and bragging rights. I would guess the coaches of many of the sports effected would rather stay in the 8th.

I saw that right after I posted. Still Woodford to the 8th makes no sense at all.

 

Only if the Franklin Co. schools go as well. It makes no sense for them to be in the 11th, and Anderson Co. to be in the 8th.

Yes it makes the 9th huge but it makes it better for all the teamswuth travel, competition, expenses etc. However this will never happen. I would not be concerned with size of regions and districts as it helps in to many other areas for kids. Which are the most important anyway.

Actually leaves out Walton, Williamstown, Grant, Simon Kenton and Spencer. By the way the Girls region is held at Simon Kenton this year. Almost 2 hour drive for Spencer County for example. I know Simon made the trip to Shelby a couple years back because the girls rotate the regional site. Just seems unfair to all involved

From a pure geographic perspective this makes sense. For selfish reasons I want Grant County to stay in the 8th. Haha

So you fixed the 8th, assuming you find a place for Spencer Co. The 4 you move out make their own district in the 9th? Do you see no issue with putting the existing 9th region schools into the other 3 districts?

Yes it would make larger districts and renew great rivalries. I don't have an issue with 5-6 teams districts with 1 and 2 seeds getting buys if that's the only down fall. Spencer in the 5th makes a lot of sense. Some regions will have to be bigger unfortunately and some smaller like the 1st region. You have Kenton for example with 3 schools all in different regions which is mind boggling to me. The 8th that I used as an illustration the teams are 15-20 minutes apart. Same can be said about the 4 northern schools I moved out.

Throwing this out there as a possibility for redistricting and the 10th Region:

 

37th - Bishop Brossart, Bracken County, Campbell County, Pendleton County (put Silver Grove back in the 9th Region and move Scott and Calvary to the 8th Region so Simon Kenton isn't the only Kenton County school there). This also solves the issue of Bracken County wanting to be in a district that seeds instead of draws.

38th - Bourbon County, Harrison County, Paris, Robertson County.

39th - Augusta, Mason County, St. Patrick, Lewis County (moves from the 16th Region)

40th - Clark County, Montgomery County, Nicholas County, Fleming County (moves from the 16h Region)

I’d like to hear from some of the SK faithful on this topic.

Ya just need replay for state tournament games that are being broadcast and have replay capabilities
