Position: QB

 

Credentials: As a senior — his only year as a starter — he converted 290 of 364 passing attempts this season, a 79.7 percent completion rate. That’s a national record, topping the previous all-time mark of 75.1 percent set by Leslie County star Tim Couch in 1994. Was part of back-to-back undefeated Class 6A titlists in 2016 and 2017.

The Herald Leader gave the Trinity QB and several other QB's props for a great season. Each list has its' own criteria. Pretty much a matter of opinion. Congrats to all for an award worthy season. Thank you for an awesome 2017 season. Many of you will be on to bigger and better things, I hope the players you leave behind will uphold the standard that you've set with your play.

I am guessing his point is this: What did the CCH QB do that the Trinity QB didn't do that got the CCH QB named to the 1st team and other QBs named ahead of the Trinity QB?

 

Seems like a fair question. Bohn did everything any other QB did but at a 6A level against superior competition in state and out of state.

 

Don't get me wrong, I am very pleased that AJ Mayer was named as the top QB, but that is because I am from NKY. He had an impressive season and is worthy of the honor. Is he more worthy than the Trinity Qb? The question by @7UP is a valid question.

Comparing stats is great if you have nothing else to compare QBs to. You can make stats dance in all sorts of wonderous ways. They also don’t tell all of the story. All of the guys that we are comparing on here at QB made the state finals. There were multiple streaming games for people who vote to watch them play. Maybe it was to the point of just splitting hairs and they took a state champ who was more vital to his team in their opinion?

Nick Bohn 242/302= .80% 5 ints 3135 yards and 37 TD's and by the way he played on an undefeated 6A state championship team that had a very hard schedule and he is honorable mention?

 

If you have this stat-line and DON’T make 1st team all-State, it makes the publication that failed to vote you in look foolish. With no disrespect to the Covington Cstholic kid, 80% completions is crazy. Crazy!

What percentage of Bohns ball were deep over the top versus short ball his all star receiver urned into long TD passes? Was he throwing mostly high percentage ball to the best receiver in the state?

Trinity/Bohn spread the passes around more than most people think, despite the 22 receptions Moore had against Moeller. Most teams gave Moore extra attention, opening up other receivers.

What is really, really, bad is Bohn was not named in the top 3 teams which is a joke. The stats I posted was not Mayer's but one of the other 2 and neither is deserving. Bohn had the best stats, played on a undefeated 6A championship team so he deserves the recognition more than anybody else. Bohn, Mayer are both deserving the only problem was Bohn got left totally out of the first 3 teams.

So maybe in this case the voters went with the QB’s who had to carry their teams more because they didn’t have as much surrounding talent. I’m sure there’s probably very little difference in all of the mentioned QBs.

You can make either Mayer and Bohn first and second then do what you want with the rest. Nick Bohn had a much better year than Langhi. And if some folks are going to pick on Bohn for throwing to Rondale Moore a lot then lets talk about some other QB's who had stud receivers to throw to and had some very good stat lines in years past. Bottom line is the kid was record setting accurate and took what the defense gave him -- and not just 10 yard slants -- and did it against any and all teams.
