CincySportsFan Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Always liked him. Wish him the best, considering it is the Yankees. Are he and Bob the first father/son managers in MLB? I can't think of anyone else right off the top of my head. I would imagine David Bell joining Buddy in those ranks pretty soon, but not there yet.
OlDog75 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 He played one year with the Yankees, has NO managerial experience let alone any MLB coaching experience, yet the Yankees hire him as manager. WOW.
PP1 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 This has kind of been the trend the last six years or so with guys like Matheny, Redmond, Ausmus, Matt Williams, and Dave Roberts being given the reins. It has not proven to be succesful with most of them being fired or under fire. I don't see how Boone is an updrage from Girardi but I wish him best.

PP1 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Didn't Giradi get hired with no experience too? Managed the Marlins prior to the Yankees.
futurecoach Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Managed the Marlins prior to the Yankees. True but wasn't he also hired with no experience?
PP1 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 True but wasn't he also hired with no experience? I guess. I guess every manager was at one time hired without any experience.
futurecoach Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 I guess. I guess every manager was at one time hired without any experience. I'm talking about no experience at all from being a player straight to being a manager just like other guys mentioned.
mexitucky Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Does this open the door for Barry Larkin here in Cincy?
AverageJoesGym Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Does this open the door for Barry Larkin here in Cincy? Why not? He couldn't do any worse than Price. Last place is last place.
