Giants bench Eli Manning

I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I just used Andy as a comparison. I have never thought Eli Manning was better than average. That is all I was trying to do with the comparison. It takes more than 1 person to win a Super Bowl and I hate how Eli gets all this love and a free pass because his team won 2 Super Bowls. I think he is a great professional and is probably a pretty good leader. However, he has never been elite and his performance for the last 3 years is actually below average. If he gets credit for 2 Super Bowls, then he has to take the blame for

6-10, 6-10, 11-5, and 2-9 over the last 4 years.

I think the QB's are much like the head coaches...get too much credit for the victories, and too much of the blame for the losses. But, like you said, you can't pick and choose what you want to have attributed to you.

Eli's asking price probably better suits Washington than Cousins'. Not a prediction, just a fun thought.

Jax?

That's gonna be a no from me dawg

Just for fun, how about him going to the Jets? Gets to stay in the same city, and heck still play at the same stadium.

I couldn't agree more. The argument that his defense hasn't helped him is a poor one... he puts so much pressure on his defense because he has been a turnover machine....he's led the league in INT's 3 times and averages almost double digit fumbles every year.

Barely better than Bortles. Manning would be killed behind Jacksonville line. Bortles has mobility. He wouldn't have anyone to throw to just like he would at the Giants.

Eli is much better than Bortles. And we aren't talking about him going there this year.

I don't know where he'll go, but i guarantee Coughlin would consider it if he's available.

He gets credit for the super bowls because he played lights out football enroute to both of them. He has the second best PFF QB rating in a super bowl, he lead to last minute game winning drives to win both and won MVP of both.

Drew Brees can't say that. Aaron Rodgers can't say that. Well... only a few people in the world can.

Talk about turnovers, and the bad records the last few years (all while ignoring the fact that he has had no offensive line, running game, and in many cases an absolutely terrible defense...)...

You can't look up a few stats and assume you know what happened re: the Giants defenses of the past. I've watched every play of every game in Eli's career. Some of the Giants teams had terrible a defense, including the 2011 championship team.

Regardless of all that, when it's all said and done, he will be a HOF QB, ranked in the top 10 all time in more than one category, and he'll have 2 super bowls/SB MVPs.

Huge mistake benching Eli. While this year hasn't been stellar - he is still leaps and bounds better than Geno.

It just makes no sense to do that to a legacy QB like him at this point in the year with Geno Smith as the backup. Ride out the year and move on in the off-season. It was tough to watch his interview at his locker.

The only possible explanation is that they feel Webb isn't ready to start yet, and they want to avoid a situation like the Bills had. No way they believe Geno is the answer now or in the future. Benching Eli gets him out of the way, and allows Webb to get the reps in practice. Although if they knew they wanted to look at him if the season went sideways, they should have already been preparing him and starting Eli until Webb was ready, certainly seems like the smarter move. It's crazy how dysfunctional this team has gotten so quickly.

Are you sure he is that much better?

Eli- 2411 YDS 14 TDs 7INTs 84.1 QBR 219 YDS/G Bonus: 25 rushing yards

Bortles- 2244 YDS 12 TD 8 INT 79.5 QBR 204 YRDS/G Bonus: 257 rushing yards

I know you are gonna throw out all stats and say your boy is way better because he's your boy, but he really isnt that much better. He would be on the same level as Blake this year on the Jags team with his limited mobility and nobody to throw to.

Stat's only matter when they support your opinion. If they don't support your opinion, then it's perfectly fine to ignore them.:D
