October 12, 200620 yr I just don't think those outside of Jefferson Co. see this incident as a "war crime." So if you are baited into stomping the bird, by classless taunts, jeers, etc., who is really disrespecting who? And which shows the most lack of class? IMO it is no longer disrespectful when you are ANTAGONIZING the other team to do it. That's like saying a guy sucker punched you when you are over there running your mouth, telling him he won't do it. And then when it happens, you act so shocked and appalled. As far as coaches go, Mark Dantonio is about as classy as it gets. He has made some stops at some very prestigious universities on his way to UC, so I'd say he knows a thing or two about how to act. To flat out call him a liar is appalling. But here's what I can't believe no one has touched on yet. Anyone notice a trend with all these problems? UC, ECU, etc. have only had this problem where? Louisville. They don't have problems at other stadiums across the country. It's amazing how these problems seem to be "attracted" to the Cards. I wonder if they could have anything to do with it.....:walk:I hope you're not calling me out for saying that he lied. But for the record, either he's lying or doesn't remember right. I was there, I saw it. And like I said, it's not like its possible he didn't know about it... or did he not get gametape of the ECU game?!
October 12, 200620 yr or did he not get gametape of the ECU game?! I didn't realize coaches scout pregame 10 minutes before the kickoff... :sssh:
October 12, 200620 yr Now it is I, who rarely laughs out loud while reading BGP, that is laying on the floor nearly in tears. GT is on fire! :flame: :fire:

October 12, 200620 yr I didn't realize coaches scout pregame 10 minutes before the kickoff... :sssh:So you're going to try and tell me he didn't know? Weak... Seriously, you didn't have to get tape on the pregame to know it happened.

I know this is going to be a shock to you, but don't you think he's a little busy in his first season as a head coach to worry about bird abuse by ECU? UC took the bait. Good for the Cards, as they got to pound on a team without its best player. Don't hurt your shoulder patting yourselves on the back...

I've always been very pleased by the outcome of that game, it was a rout that shouldn't have been, even without their best player. Cincy even won their bowl game that year- and it could have been worse, Louisville threw all of 15 passes the entire game. Of course, when the running back breaks an 80 yarder on the first play from scrimmage, maybe you don't pass so much. In any case, there's no way that Dantonio hadn't heard about the bird stomping. Zero, none. He's a football coach in the same conference, and Louisville is the rival. He probably knows if Latarrius Thomas is right or left handed without having to check.

I'm positive he knew everything about the UL roster. I'm just not sure someone told him that poor bird was dressing that day...
October 12, 200620 yr Governor Fletcher needs to either make a law against "bird stomping" at Papa John's Stadium, or issue a blanket pardon to all guilty parties, past and future. :walk:

October 12, 200620 yr I think we can conclude the moral of the story... Question: Has "Stomping on the Bird" become a Louisville tradition? Answer: Yes, it now has. Question: Do other program get to choose what traditions Louisville has? Answer: No they don't. Question: Do other programs get to make fun of a more than silly "tradition"? Answer: Yes, it seems they do... :walk:
October 12, 200620 yr  Hardly. I've yet to hear it mentioned in this grand city. That's becasue in that grand city football season officially ends in 3 days.
October 13, 200620 yr Cincy may not stomp on the bird, but I think we all know what West Virginia has in mind for November 2...
