Kate Hepburn and Mark Twain in Hell and Charles Manson is in Heaven !!!

Featured Replies

Is it possible? Could Katherine Hepburn or Mark Twain, both avowed and proud atheists, be burning in hell while Chuck Manson is hanging out in Paradise with the Lord? From what I understand of Christianity , the answer is a resounding "YES!!!" It's possible, I guess, that Mr. Manson had a deathbed confession of his sins and accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. Christianity allows even a low-life like Chuck to be redeemed right up until the very end. Could it be that Manson beat us all to the pearly gates?

Can a person live a truly horrible life, a murderous life, and then be saved the last couple of minutes of his Earthly existence and live all of eternity in Heaven? At the same time, can a person live a truly honorable life, do tremendous good for the world, but because his rational mind just couldn't accept the supernatural , he is left to burn in hell for all of eternity?

I'm sorry, but that's just another one of those tenets of Christianity that defies all common sense.

Also, I heard many of you stating that you were glad that Manson had died and that you was glad he would be spending eternity rotting in hell. The sentiment is understandable, in a way, but why would you not hope that he got saved before he died and would spend eternity in Heaven? Isn't that what Christians want- for everyone to accept Jesus as Lord & Savior and have life everlasting in Heaven?

I'm just a bit confused by it all of these questions. Can you help me out? Thanks.

Probably a good thing that God is the judge in this situation. I'm not sure Manson could get a fair trial with humans at the helm.

Is it possible?

Who did he kill?

Not sure. I really don't think about that kind of stuff very much. But I will say with absolute certainty that I hope he had a relationship with Jesus. I hope he believed, repented, confessed, and was baptized.

I actually think Jeffrey Dahmer did. I saw a special as a kid where Ted Bundy became a christian before he died.

But Manson is dead now. Not sure the point in me thinking about it now.

If sincere conversion and repentance isn't possible, then what's the point of mercy? Not only for God, but for the rest of us?

Do I think it's possible he made right with his god ere the end? Sure. But I have no way of knowing.

Perfectly put.

I can't imagine a follower of Christ wanting anything other than Heaven. If "God is not willing that any should perish, but everyone to come to repentance" I think His followers should desire the same.

As to the original post, I see it like this. A murderer wrote the first five books of the Bible (Moses). And a murderer, or at least someone who was complicit in murder, wrote nearly half of the New Testament (Paul).

I don't know the eternal destiny of Charles Manson, and I am glad I don't have to decide. But grace was available for him, as well as the rest of humanity, up until the final breath.

But there have already been folks who say they follow Christ that have wished Hell, not Heaven, for Charles. I understand the emotion, I really do. But if you are a follower of Christ wouldn't you hope that Charles got saved and is with the Lord now. Christians are odd sometimes.

And I have had some of those desires too. A big part of me wants him to suffer for the suffering he's caused.

What I and other Christians have to come back to is that being a follower of Christ is just that: being a follower of Christ. We have to deny our desires and surrender instead to God's will. And He desires that no one should perish, but everyone to come to repentance. You are right that every follower of Jesus should hope that Mason got saved, but there's also this sinful nature within each of us that wants the opposite of what God wants.

That's why Christians are odd sometimes. At least, that's why I'm odd. There are times I go my own way rather than what God wants me to do, so I become very inconsistent.
