Can Kentucky Country Day beat Beechwood?

Featured Replies

What's your opinion? Why and how can they?

Can they? Sure. Any Given Sunday (or in this case, Friday)

will they? no. Tigers on a crash course with the East Champ at The Grocery Store.

Yes, they can. The key factor would be turnovers. Beechwood needs to hold onto the ball - no fumbles, no interceptions. If the Tigers turn over the ball a couple times and KCD doesn't, this becomes a close game that KCD can definitely win.

Couldn't agree more with EyeoftheTiger...turnovers are key.

And I think exploiting matchup issues could play a part...I've watched the tape, Beechwood is a complete team with no holes position by position....they all do their jobs and the team steamrolls you as a result. So if you have a couple of kids who are distinct matchup challenges, you'd best capitalize or it'll be tough to score and tough to defend against Team Tiger.

Playing their best and catching a few breaks it's possible for KCD...an average performance and Beechwood could cruise.

I think they can but they will need help from defense and help from a few turnovers and they must not turn the ball over. It also would help if Beechwood started out a little rusty like last week to build that Kentucky Country Day momentum early.

If leading 47-0 at half time and never punting, and holding Frankfort to 7 yards of offense in the first half, is rusty, then I'd hate to see what clicking would look like.

I like KCD and I think they can hang in with Beechwood. Beechwood strength is the defense in my opinion. In the last 6 games they have let up 41 points, 22 to 6a Simon Kenton who averages 46 per game. The other 19 was given up in the 4th QTR against mainly JV players. Beechwood will score so KCD will need to find a way to put up points against Beechwood. Only Cov Cath, Simon Kenton and Corbin have scored more than 14 points against Beechwood.

From KCDs numbers they haven't had any problem scoring. They just had a few problems letting others score. But both district games were on the road. They give up 37 to Louisville Holy Cross in the regular season and just 7 in the playoffs. It's basically the same thing that happen last year. KCD played for a half with Beechwood last year and this time they get them at home and the longer they stay in the game the longer the better their confidence will grow.

Their first couple drives did look rusty offensively speaking. The defense looked good for sure but for some reason they ran a full house backfield exclusively the first 3-4 drives and it just didn’t look as crisp as they looked against their 4-5 previous opponents.

Nope

No one in 1A can beat them
