I don't believe you can blame 31 unanswered points on a single penalty in the second half. Just my opinion though.

 

That's true, but who's to say that Raceland could have gone on the run they did if that Paris TD hadn't been called back. It's impossible to say what effect that might have had on Raceland's players had the flag not been thrown. Maybe they would have stormed back to win anyway, or maybe it propels Paris on to victory. Fortunately for Raceland, it was called back and the Rams are moving on, which is all that matters.

I think he meant an increased commitment to the weight room in the off-season by the players.

They have a very nice training facility. We were in there last night and it is very impressive.

Looking at enrollment and roster Paris is going to struggle after next year. You don't have to load up a schedule, but 2-3 games isnt going to hurt, considering the district is usually weak as well.

I don't think that one penalty in the 2nd half was the reason for the Paris collapse. Should that be the case then Paris probably doesn't score at all in the 1st half. Maybe Raceland's 1st half penalties (I believe around 70-80 yds. worth in the 1st half alone) were the reason for Paris scoring. ....No, Raceland came out flat, didn't play well at all in the 1st half, that was why Paris led at half.

Paris played better and had the lead. Paris, had they been better could've had Raceland down by 3 td's at the half.

Raceland coming out ready to play and the adjustments made at half were the reason for the 31 pt. beat down of the Greyhounds in the 2nd half.

That 1 penalty also resulted in an interception a few plays later. Raceland got down to the 2 on 4th down ready to kick a field goal then Paris jumped offsides moving the ball inside the 1. Raceland then scored. After that the game was pretty much over. Paris just laid down

Actually, both Teams had 8 first half penalties, Raceland 64 yds and Paris 69 yds.

The fact of the matter is that we played terrible in the first half. As bad as we have played all year. If Paris was the powerhouse that everyone tried to make them out to be they would have put us away. The second half we got it together quit shooting ourselves in the foot and you saw the difference between these two teams. No penalty or penalties caused anything to happen. It was always going to happen just took way to long to get going.

IMO Paris is not a powerhouse, just a small 1A school that put together a good year. Paris almost put together a complete game and upset Raceland. They held Raceland to 56 yds rushing & 66 yds passing in 1st Half, Paris dropped 2 passes in the Endzone and had the 75 yd TD called back. Against good teams like Raceland, you can not squander opportunities like that. Tough game, give credit to Raceland for battling back, wearing Paris down and playing hard. Raceland is good team but not a powerhouse, maybe Paintsville is but on a given night Raceland might be able to beat them. Beechwood is a powerhouse but it would be nice to get there to play a powerhouse.

Was this the same Paris team that calpreps predicted would score 21 on Ashland? Seriously, no disrespect to Paris, my stepdad played for them a long long time ago, but this went about how I expected. The whole purpose of my post is that more less these computer predictions and comparing scores to determine the outcome of a game is meaningless a lot of the time.

No way any computer is going to get scores right. Too many things can happen in the real life game. Raceland was a 2 TD favorite on calpreps. They won by 3 TD's and Paris had one called back by penalty. If the kid puts his hands up on the crack back block, calpreps is on the money. But things happen in real life. Who or what computer could predict Paris up 9-0 late in the 3rd quarter? Who could predict Raceland would then put up 31 points after being shut out for almost 3 quarters? The actual numbers can change, but I think calpreps was spot on in predicting the outcome of this game.
