G) Videotaping Standard and Procedur

es and Video Exchange Policy:

1) All Visiting teams will be given the same area to record from as the home team.

2) All exchange video should be reco

rded digitally with a digital Camera.

3) All exchange video should be recorded in DVD format or Online

4) All exchange video shall be recorded using a Tripod.

5) All exchange video shall be recorded fr

om the highest possible point in the stadium

6) All exchange video shall be recorde

d so that the teams numbers are visible

7) All exchange video shall be recorded from the huddle to

z few seconds past the end of the play (5-10 seconds).

score, at each time-out, and between quarters.

early indicating offensive and defensive starters.

17) All Video shall be available by 8 am

on the day following the game if online

exchange is utilized, or by noon on

the day following the game if there is a physical exchange of video.

On the issue of bye’s in the playoffs, it needs to be fixed. If you have to give out bye’s then make the teams earn them, possibly the #1 overall seed in the each bracket and so on.

 

There was one BYE in classes 2A-6A...what exactly needs to be fixed? This only happened because Grant Co chose not to compete in their district this season.

 

I'd prefer a Bye to allowing the 5th or 6th place team in a district make the playoffs just because another district only has 3 teams.

Go look at 1A. 3 team districts, its a mess with playoff byes. I guess I failed to read that 1A wasnt included in this discussion of KHSAA playoff system as a whole

How low has the Highlands program fallen that they are worried about a team having their game film. In the past Highlands probably could have let the opposing head coach come to practice all week and it wouldn't have mattered, they would have just went out and overwhelmed you.

Yes, 1A also had 3 byes due to Eminence, Clinton County and Jenkins opting out of district play this season. With 1A only having 32 teams to begin with there had to be Byes.

 

As far as who the bye should go to, it went to the #1 team in the district opposite from the teams that sat out this year...the team that should have gotten it did get it.

I realize I am a week or two late on this and maybe this is the wrong forum, but why does South Oldham have a BYE anyway?

 

Shouldn't Cov Cath have had the BYE with the undefeated record compared to 1 loss by South Oldham? Is South Oldham a higher seed and therefore gets a home game against Cov Cath (if they both win this week)?

So the fact that Highlands had success in the past, justifies them only having 10 films while their opponent has 11? Not sure anyone will buy that logic. The rule actually reads last 2 must be exchanged, but this situation seems like extenuating circumstances.

He was obviously effective with his comments, because he distracted you from BW’s point in not trading. Getting on an anonymous msg board and calling a leader of young men a pouter? Come on... Any coach who only has 10 films on an opponent and is considering sending their opponent an 11th film which could arguably give the other team a competitive advantage? Glad BW has his kids back tbh!

No, this thread is about Highlands coach embarrassing himself and the school. There's another thread talking about the flaws.

High school kids man... The kids at highlands are kids, playing a game. Their coach has a solid argument as to why he did what he did. Which is why he has not been suspended for violating rules. Lets keep this in perspective KIDS, probably not a single kid on that roster that dished out those butt whoopings that ignited your hatred for their program.

I'm a Highlands alum. No hate here. But the coach embarrassed himself and his school. The coaches argument and actions on this matter are weak.

I excluded it originally to show that there was only 1 bye, due to extenuating circumstances in 5 classes. None of the byes is a byproduct of a flawed system it is a byproduct of teams deciding in the middle of a four year alignment to not compete for a district title. How would you have the KHSAA fix that, force 3 2A schools to move down to 1A to fill in those open spots? The only fix for 5A would have been for District opponents to play in the first round and allowing a team finishing 5th in the playoffs.
