Florida is the best team in the SEC. They showed that by what they did to LSU. Arkansas is a very young team and they have improved a lot since opening with USC. That being said, Auburn had an off week and its costed them a chance at a National Title more than likely.

Well thats your opinion. My opinion is that if they played this week, it would be a much closer game. Arkansas has a freshman QB and its obvious he has improved a lot since week 1.

Right into the trap. He completed SEVEN passes for less than 100 yards against Auburn. If he improved, it was only in turning around and giving up the rock. Mustain threw twice in the final 38 plays of the game. They ran wild on Auburn and USC stopped them cold...

The thing is a lot of other big time teams aren't having their weaknesses exploited because they arent playing the competition that SEC schools are playing. Look at the PAC 10. Cal appears to be the 2nd best team easily in that conference and were thumped by UT. The Big 10 only has 2 teams who are all that great IMO. No other conference is playing the tough teams week in and week out like teams are playing in the SEC.

Its like Louisville. They are a great team, but had an off night Friday night. Its a good thing they werent playing a top 5 or 6 SEC team or they may have an L. In the SEC you cant afford to have an off week vs. the top 7 or 8 teams in the conference.

You make some very good points in this post LMB. The SEC has has 8 teams that can beat anyone in the country on a given day. Put these teams in one conference when you play one another and beat up on each other every week and it is next to impossible to go unbeaten and then have to win a conference championship game. Big East has Lou. and WVU and sometimes Pitt., no one else. Pac 10 has USC and the 9 dwarfs (Cal can be o.k.), Big 12 is usually very good but imo are down from what they usually are. Big 10 comes as close as anyone with OSU, that team up north, Penn St., Iowa, and a couple of others that can beat you. ACC is getting better but imo not up there year in and year out. The SEC is by far the best conference in the nation - no one else even close. This just further makes my and a lot of others point for a playoff system in college football but that is a whole other animal.

I find it funny that Florida is now so highly praised. Is this the same team that had trouble putting away Bama and UK in The Swamp in the two previous games? There is a lot of good football played in the SEC. That alone does not make it #1 "without question" over the Big 11...

There are no easy answers for anyone, I do think that in this season anyway depending on how the playoffs would be set up you could possibly have 4 SEC teams in the top 8 of the playoffs. That is not me trying to be an SEC homer, I really belive that this season you could have that. No one will ever know though bc the schools / Bowl game cities / NCAA / Sponsoring companies of the bowl games are making too much $$$$ on the way it is right now.

Kirk (Herbie) is going off on the radio about the local fans doubting the sec and basically telling them to go see a game at an sec stadium before running their mouth. Not that it really pertains to this thread but thought it was funny he was saying it on an OSU station.

I've been saying this for years. The better teams in the conference just beat each other up so bad during the season that there is not much left during the second half of the season. Last week Auburns coach said he didn't think his team would be able to recover from the LSU game by the end of the season. He said that both teams just beat each other up so bad that he didn't think either team would be as good near the end of the season as they were when they started. Guess what happens a week later, both teams lose.

I cant wait, I am headed to Baton Rouge for a night game in Death Valley. Two nights in New Orleans as well....oh my.

I am a UK fan and I know UK fans are out there, but OSU fans are special breed. They dont think football is that great outside of the Big 10.

However, except in the elite in the Big 10, the south us where you at=re going to fund speed galore.

The SEC also leads the nation in non-conference winning percentage, at 26-7 (.788).
