Mayfield vs Murray

Featured Replies

Mayfield's backs are gonna be tough the next few years. From what I am hearing next year they will be led by Jr. Trevarthan, Soph Murrell, and Frosh star Decole Noonan...

Noonan, is he #6 who I saw against Fulton? One thing to remember, is that the greatest RB in the world is only as good as his O-line in front of him.... How good will the O-line be to block for those young men you mentioned for the next couple of years.....

Actually there line is relatively young too...A few of the kids who probably wouldn't have played if not for injuries, have gotten some quality varsity experience and with all the blowouts, have seen solid time in the 2nd half of several games..The Cards biggest concern for next year, IMO, is finding a replacement at the QB spot, where Shelton has been such a big factor in there success the past 3 years...If they can get an adequate QB to go along with these young, talented RBs, the future looks bright...

No that was Tyrese Murrell he is our frosh RB this year and is only 15 yrs old! Noonan is an eighth grader this year and has scored something like 20+ TD's in seven games.

I agree the line is going to be good also! Luke Guhy is the 8th grade QB this year and should be a really good one also...I would think that Logan Armstrong will be the QB next year!

Logan is tough but what about the Heath kid we saw in the Caldwell county game?

What is the most lopsided game in the history of this series?

Mayfield 28-7.

That was the year that Mayfield was 2-5 and playing at Murray, a game some thought the Tigers might win. It was 34-0 at halftime and by then, radio color man Paul Leahy (the ex-Mayfield coach who just loves beating Murray) was all a-twitter.

Everyone in western Kentucky will be shocked if there isn't a running clock sometime during the second half. It's already been a rough week for Murray ... one of their defensive linemen died in a car wreck over the weekend.

Actually, I thought Leahy was going to wet himself, he was so giddy. I'm glad this game is at Mayfield and not at Murray at the "renovated" Ty Holland Stadium. If all is right in the cosmos, Mayfield will never return there. Leahy and crew have to sit outside the press box because it's not big enough to hold all the radio coverage. Imagine sitting outside right smack dab in the middle of those Tiger Mommas, while you're trying to be objective, but somehow you just can't resist taking a poke at them when the team commits an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Don't know what it's like under Edwards regime, but under Fisher and his crew, you knew there were at least 2 or 3 comin'. (If looks could kill). As far as Ty Holland Stadium renovations, I think they should have started with a wrecking ball and a bulldozer. A new coat of paint hardly qualifies for "renovation".

MF will cruise...... 42-7

They still have a problem with the unsportsmanlike penalty. They had 2 or 3 in the Fulton City game.

Very sad about Murray's loss through the death of a lineman from the wreck...I know all our BGP prayers go out to his family and team!!!

Mayfield Middle also lost a player this week from what I understand, 12 yr old Jory Wiggins was hit by a car at his grandparents home and died. VERY, VERY SAD!

Murray's Coach Edwards doesn't put up with much and has dismissed several players from Fisher's past teams when he took over! Mayfield won't run it up even on Murray, but a running clock is a for sure bet in this cold weather Friday night!

Have you seen the renovations or just speculating that the renovations are just a coat of paint? Let us not pretend Mayfiled's facilities are all-world, either. I believe both places could use a substantial upgrade... Murray's is much nicer than it was though.
