Simon Kenton vs. Ryle

Featured Replies

Ryle beat them by 40 something last year. Ryle is better this year, SK is not, so I predict Ryle 48 -SK 7

I'll disagree with this. SK picks up a, IMO, top 5 back in NKY in Haught, a very good WR from Dixie, and all of their skill positions get another year under their belt and they aren't better than last year? This has all the makings of a "trap" game. SK is going to come out swinging as this is a "1 game season" for them. I think Ryle is the better team, but if they take the attitude that you have it might be a pretty interesting ballgame. If SK jumps out to any early lead, look out, we all know how good Ryle's offense is at playing from behind.

My prediction: Ryle comes out fired up, knowing a loss might jeopardize their chances of making the playoffs, and matches SK's intensity from the opening bell.

The offense is with out a doubt better than last year, they did pick up Haught(who replaced a pretty good back in Larkins), they do have upgrades at receiver in a healthy Ponzer and new-comer Gibson, and everyone else gains a year of experience.

The reason that they aren't better than last year is that their defense is not very good, whereas last year the defense was what kept this team in ball games. This years defense is giving up over 40 points a game the last 3 games.

This years team, though improved on offense, is not better than last years.

I agree with all but your prediction.

SK has the tools to make it close, if they get out to an early lead......

Ryle didn't exacly beat the band in the first half against Conner last week.

SK in a close one.

This could easily happen, IF the Raiders don't come prepared for a fight on Friday night. I would be shocked, and rather disappointed if that happened. But as I said earlier, if SK jumps out to an early lead, look out, because we certainly won't win a shootout.

Ryle 28-13.

It could happen depends on how disciplined Ryle is,... don't think it's likely but that's why I'm quoting you,... Definitely possible especially with an early lead and even more so at half....

Ryle will be a load for SK to handle, but SK's weakness is pass defense, and from what I've read the Raiders aren't exactly a passing team. I won't make a prediction but if SK's run defense can halfway contain the Murray/Gray combo it'll be close, we'll see, I'll be crossing my fingers hoping for a win this Friday but it won't be easy at all.

Sk's weakness is defense, not pass defense but the entire defense.

I think they're slow laterally(sweeps) and struggle on long passes. But they're not horrible.

They aren't horrible but at the same time they aren't good. Both your points are good and I would add to that the fact that they have trouble making tackles and are attempting a lot of arm tackles.

I'll take Ryle big. SK's offense will keep them in the game the first quarter, but after that, Ryle will take over.

SK just doesn't have the defense to stop the Raider offense and won't be able to put up atleast 3 scores on Ryle's D, which it would take to beat them.

50 points may be way too little for this game but that's what it will take for a Neer win. Gray ate up SK last season but like I've said in previous posts SK never even got off the bus for last years game. We'll see what SK is made of this week, they are in a huge hole, they are capable of big things but so far they've fallen short of expectations.

I don't remember Sk showing up last year. I don't see Coach M letting that happen again this year.

Ryle held out some starters in the first half last week.

Ryle isn't overlooking anyone this week.

I do agree with what you said, especially the part where you agreed with what I said, but also, the fact that they do seem to be making alot of arm tackles, which I feel has to do with them struggling laterally, not being able to get a shoulder on a guy and drive him back by rolling their hips...
