HHS vs Trinity JV?????

30th Class reunion plans may take precedent...but it's only a couple hrs. away....depends on how much Friday night "damage" is done!! Glad there is no "A" team...I would have hated to imagine that talent .....

Can't believe you'd let a silly class reunion get in the way of Highlands football. Pitiful, pitiful, pitiful.

Look, you'll get back from Grant at around 10:30. Get to the Hhaus at 11. Repeat the same old football stories you always tell (btw, you did not have 5 interceptions in one game) while having a few adult beverages for two hours. Safely home, tucked in the blankies by 1:15. Up at 8, on the road by 8:30, in the Vile (I mean Ville) by 10:30 waiting for the game to begin. Its Highlands football for Pete's sake. You can do it!

I do understand recovery is a little tougher in ones golden years:D . Sat should be fun, the bus will be running on high octane!

T does not have that many JRS. playing j-v. There may be 3 or 4 at the most.(I can only think of 2) Most of the sophs. that play on Fridays aren't playing j-v either, so its kind of like a swap out type of thing. They aren't playing an all junior team either ; their is one j-v team , period.

Does Highlands play juniors on their JV team? Also, is there a norm for these games? Do most teams play juniors in JV games?

Good luck to both squads.

I would guess that most teams play kids that don't play varsity excluding seniors. I understand that most teams play a number of freshmen on their JV teams. I would guess that most teams don't have the luxury of having a hundred or more soph/jr/senior players like X and T . The fact is that X has played juniors and still plays juniors on their JV team (this was confirmed by X sources on another thread) to get them ready for future varsity action. Trinity to a greater extent uses several jr.s on the JV team that will be counted on later in the year as well as the coming year. I for one, am very pleased with the devlopment of jr. Matt Stein. He has gained valued experience at the QB position that could not be gained in mop-up time in varsity games. This same senario was true a few years back with QB Geoff Riddle. He led the Rocks to a huge upset win over St.X and on to the state final before losing to a truly great Male squad. He most likely would not have able to do this without the benefit of playing in JV games as a junior. So my guess is that most schools have to rely more on freshman amd sophmores for JV than Juniors simply because numbers dictate it in all but a few programs.

I am getting sick of these backhanded comments. There is one team that uses the "practice" of not using juniors, though they occasionally do, we ALL know that.

A little "techy" are we? Gryche11, DMZ76, and any others of our Highlands friends who also inquired as to whether and/or how many juniors T plays on their JV team, this is a question some posters are a bit prickly about. My question was primarily adressed to Highlands posters when I inquired "Does Highlands play juniors on their JV team? Also, is there a norm for these games? Do most teams play juniors in JV games?" However, anyone who may know the answer is free to chip in, hopefully in a relaxed manner.:D

HECK YEAH HHS plays JRs....Sophs...and the occasional Frosh. HHS plays the kids who need TIME that they can't/don't get on Friday nights. My comments toward T was how outstanding their SOPH class was playing...and their size/speed! They would be a good Varsity team and beat alot of NKY Varsity squads. No disrespect was intended.

L'Neck....your itinerary for Friday night is "do-able"..but my youngest has a grudge re-match with the dreaded red team in the FTJFL Sat. afternoon. And quit knockin' my "Al Bundy" stories....I would've had 6 if not for some cheatin' linebacker who got caught "cheap-shottin' " some O-lineman!! (LOL)

LN told Mac not to hit the O-lineman and darned if Mac didn't go and do it anyway.:bunny:

Wow...30th....lets see... you typically graduate at 17 or 18....add 30....that makes.......:thumb:

Just kidding....but would love to hear about those 5 Int's in one game over a Mix of Oktoberfest/Premium at the Hbrahaus.......so good when it hits your lips..... next time any of you are going down.... let me know.

You gotta remember that 9th grade was the toughest 3 yrs of my life !! (lol)....and who listened to LN any way?? (LOL)

Just back from part duex. 33-13 T. HHS played well in the 1st half and actually led 13-7. 2nd half was a different story, T dominated. I would've liked to see these two play when HHS was a little more rested. Not an excuse but playing more than 1 half on Friday night and then playing again Sat morning is a daunting task. I hope 43 from T is OK. Lord help anyone in that town who needs emt services. That poor kid laid on the field for at least 30 minutes before the ambulance arrived. Any way T's JV is very good, and I loved the stadium.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Trinity has so many more kids. For instance while T was driving in for a TD, the special teams coach has another 11 players ready for the next kick off. Looked like they had about 70 kids compared to HHS 30 or so. And not even all 30 JV kids got in the game. You would think that if you have maybe a couple extra kids not playing every down on offense or defense, that the coaches would allow them to play on specials anyway.

Agree 100% with your observation. 67 dressed for T. HHS has quite a few play both ways. This a great learning tool for HHS JV in preparation for varsity ball next year.
