2006 Ashland Invitational

Featured Replies

Anyone know what kind of team Highlands has this year?

Lost a lot of quality seniors- Vories, Guidugli, and the center (smith maybe?). Should be a very, very, very, physical team this year, with Nic Simpson, an athletic two guard, being the go to guy.

No.

2001-2002 Brossart beat PC twice

2002-2003 Brossart beat PC three times

2003-2004 Brossart won first game at BB, PC won in semi's of MCIT

2004-2006 Pendleton beat Highlands

Schlarman leads 6-2

OK, I wasn't sure what year Biggs got to PC...

Glad to see Boyd County back in the AIT.Coach Biggs is going to be a good fit for Ashland.

Franklin Co. vs. Rowan Co.

Madison Central vs. Manual

Boyd Co. vs. Highlands

Ashland vs. Knott Central

Old Soda you might see the Schlarman vs. Biggs matchup after all. Biggs was 2-6 against Schlarman and had most of his success against Brossart after Code took over going 4-0 against them. Juicy matchup up top with Madison Central against Louisville Manual.

Are these games on the first day? Also, what time do they start?

Well, thanks. I might just have to make that trip down to Ashland if that were to happen.

Don't be suprised if Highlands does well in the AIT. The past three out of four years, teams from Northern Kentucky have excelled in the three day tourney.

Dec. 2002-Ryle earned 3rd place while Justin Doellman won MVP.

Dec. 2003-Newport Central Catholic beat Pendleton County in the finals.

Dec. 2005-Bishop Brossart won the tournament.

Highlands would not be in Ashland's bracket if they had a chance to win it, I would say Madison Central is the team to beat

Shooterx3 is the Bill O'Reilly of BGP. No spin. Just fact.

Good point Shooter, but Ashland better not take the 'Birds for granted!! Willie's "D" can keep them in a lot of games.

I think the first game starts at 2:30pm.

Ther are great teams in this tourney. To suggest that Ashland put Highlands on their side because they cannot win it is absurd. Ashland is not overlooking anybody or should not be after going 14-16 last year. Highlands has a great program as does Madison Central and Manual. Franklin Co. is Tough too. They had to put somebody on their side.

If you honestly think any host team doesn't cherry pick the perceived easiest route to the finals, you are only fooling yourself.

Absolutely correct. goherd96. Many words can be used to describe Ashland but "stupid" is not among them. I would also disagree with stringer in that it is safe to say that there are no "great" teams in the AIT. There are a couple of decent teams but certainly no great ones. In this area of the country, it might be said that Huntington High School is a potentially "great" team but there are no others.
