Clay County 60 Perry Central 36

Featured Replies

Clay's JV team played the majority of the 2nd half all of the 4th, and about all of the 3rd. But clays jv was running all over perry co., Perry put their varsity back in, and clay kept on playing with the jv. So i dont know where people are getting that the Varsity stayed in. In the end Clay was just too much for Perry to handle. Varsity or JV. dont make no difference.

So was it 60-36 or 81-2? Does anyone have a scoring summary? How many touchdowns did Lewis have?

60-36 is the accurate score.
60-36 is the accurate score.

That's a whole different story then. You can't quit running your offense if the other team keeps scoring. 60 points is a lot but the fact is its only a 24 point win. Sounds like Clay's staff did what they had to do. I apologize the original posted score of 81-2 had me a little upset. Anyone have a scoring summary on this one?

Why in the world would Perry Central put their Varsity back in when Clay is playing thieir JV and the game is out of reach?

I was told that PCC doesn't even play a JV schedule, is this correct anyone? IF so, why?

If PCC doesn't play a JV schedule that tells volumes about the status of their program. I wouldn't look for much improvement in the future. I can't believe the parents and board members would put up with that.

Lewis had in the neighborhood of 450 yards passing Dunn had over 200 yards recieving. Zack Lewis left the game with 9 minutes left in the third Qtr back Up Qb Nicholson played some reps with the starting O Line, the JV finished off the night.

Parents? Board members? Whatever happend to letting the coach run the football program!:irked:

I have heard some of the parents mention it and they want a JV, but the reason they don't play a JV schedule is because most of their players are freshmen and sophomores that get a lot of Varsity minutes. However, I think a JV would help build the program up.

Perry scored 6 in the 2nd, 6 in the 3rd and 24 in the 4th. No stat padding going on in this one. The FACT is, it could have been 100 to 12 if Clay does what most of YOU think they do. The offense of Clay could practically do whatever they wanted in the air or on the ground. I think Lewis was 22 of 28 for around 460 yards, not official, just a guess. Clays' JV (O & D) played 33% of the game. Name me a team thats ever had a very good young QB and a very good corp of recievers that took those players out of the game as soon as possible. I don't think you will be able to. Call it padding if you want, I call it getting all the snaps possible for a sophomore QB that has a bright future, same for the receivers. If Clay Padded like most think, Clays' numbers would be unreal.

The Clay JV was on the verge of scoring on Perrys' JV late in the 4th when the first string defense for Perry come in to stop the score.

From what I've heard, Browne is in charge. I do think that to get better for next year, you must play at least 5 JV games with your young kids. Those kids may get varsity time, but not a complete game and when you don't have fundamental training - (i.e... JV game) those kids are put in an awkward situation in a varsity game. The competition may be better, faster, and most of all stronger. These kids need to compete with other teams JV squad that are the same in all areas. Sure, some teams may have a few "studs" but it is a learning process, not an overnight success.

I wish the best for the PCC program and hope they can get out more numbers and get better.

Lewis had 6 TD passes, and Phillip Dunn had 226 yards and 3 touchdowns, Dunn also had a 80 yard kick called back that went for a TD, and also a couple catches.

Great win for the Tigres.......
