Tennessee Football Program

How much baggage?

His NCAA ban is over/show cause is over but it’s on his record. With what’s going on in b-ball, any school compliance person will have to keep a close on the program because the NCAA will be. Still, what does Tenn have to lose right now?

Missed the boat on Jeff Brohm.

Not too late! UT > PU

You can NEVER win Big 10 at Purdue, you can win the SEC at UT.

I agree. Purdue is a dead end. It's always going to be an entry into the power 5 coaching job and hopefully after 2-3 seasons you make a bowl game and you win a couple games you aren't supposed to. If UT called, Brohm is gone from Purdue in a heartbeat.

Hey, they've won one in the last 40 or so years (or make that shared one), and they did win one outright about 80 years ago. If Brohm has any success at all, there are at least 30 better jobs out there. I'm guessing he'd leave for UT, but I'm not sure he's a big enough name to satisfy UT fans and boosters. My guess is he needs one more bigger stop before he gets a job like Tennessee.

If you're Tennessee do you call Les Miles? I would.

Les Miles is Butch Jones with a National Title (which he was lucky to even play for with 2 losses). If you don't like how Butch manages games, you're not gonna like Les either, as he might be even worse.

Les twice the coach Butch is. Les is simply stubborn with his offensive schemes, so is Saban. Saban has just hired guys who have different philosophies than him and have allowed his offenses to grow. Les didn't do that and it cost him his job. If Les could get some creative offensive minds in there with him at UT it would be a hell of a hire.

Offensive philosophies have nothing to do with consistently bad clock management, and mismanaging basic gameday stuff. He also never developed a quarterback that could win consistently. He hasn't finished in the top two in the SEC since 2012, and his one championship came with many guys that Saban recruited. Plus he's approaching his mid 60's, so he's likely only going to be there a half dozen years or so.

Tennesse can do much better than Miles. Being 2x better than a less than average coach isn't exactly a great compliment. Tennessee needs someone 3x or 4x better than Jones.

Agree to disagree with regards to Les and the fact that Tennessee can do better. Tennessee isn't as attractive of a job as most people think it is.

TN has a top 5 facility in the nation. Very very sweet.

It's still a great job.

You can make this claim based on what? If you have access to all of these team facilities to judge? If you do I'll stop being so hard on you all the time in exchange for the hook up.

I've been to the one at UT several times and sat in the Peyton Manning room looking over the practice field. The whole indoor complex is awesome from they lunchroom to barber shop they have. Not to mention training room, film room, they have it all.

It blows UK out of the water.

No way most schools have what TN does.

I am just enjoying watching Tennessee implode.

Have you seen UK new facilities?

I think Les is a good coach, IMO LSU is going to regret firing him. The SEC needs UT to be UT and to get a good coach. Outside of Saban and maybe Kirby Smart the SEC doesn't really have the great coaches like it used to which is why I think they're going through a slump.
