Best team in Danville Area- Part Two

Featured Replies

We did this last week and Mercer and Danville were at the top. I think it is clear that they still are (not sure of the order, though). For the rest, the picture starts to get a little clearer with each week.

Take a look at the following:

Team (Overall record; District record) Points For-Points Allowed (Opponents' Records)

Boyle County (1-5; 0-1) 118-185 (33-6)

Casey County (1-5; 0-0) 85-194 (27-12)

Danville (7-0; 1-0) 337-94 (14-29)

Garrard County (2-5; 0-0) 96-260 (29-14)

Lincoln County (5-1; 2-0) 217-73 (18-22)

Mercer County (6-0; 1-0) 285-45 (15-24)

Objective Rankings based on above:

Winning Percentage

1. Danville (1.000)

1. Mercer County (1.000)

3. Lincoln County (.833)

4. Garrard County (.285)

5. Boyle County (.166)

5. Casey County (.166)

Offense (points per game)

1. Danville (48.14)

2. Mercer County (47.50)

3. Lincoln County (36.16)

4. Boyle County (19.66)

5. Casey County (14.16)

6. Garrard County (13.71)

Defense (points per game)

1. Mercer County (7.50)

2. Lincoln County (12.16)

3. Danville (13.42)

4. Boyle County (30.83)

5. Casey County (32.22)

6. Garrard County (37.14)

Opponents' Combined Winning Percentage

1. Boyle County 33-6 (.846)

2. Casey County 27-12 (.692)

3. Garrard County 29-14 (.674)

4. Lincoln County 18-22 (.450)

5. Mercer County 15-24 (.384)

6. Danville 14-29 (.325)

Now for the subjective rankings based on where the teams are after 7 weeks of play (or 6 seeks and a bye).

How would you rank them?

I really believe that if the top three played it would be a toss up in who would win. I would have loved to have seen them play.

Has any team in the state played a tougher schedule than Boyle County? 4 of the 6 teams are undefeated.

W Harrison County (3-3)

L Henry Clay (7-0)

L Danville (7-0)

L Lafayette (7-0)

L Mercer County (6-0)

L Southwestern (3-3)

I don't know if anyone else can make that claim. But those are also games that they would have won a few years ago. They will be okay though as long as they keep playing hard. That level of competition can only help come playoff time. I do not know who they have left but I don't see them not making it.

I think the Rebels win the next 4 handily:

vs. Pulaski County (1-5; 1-0)

at Marion County (4-2; 1-0)

vs. Taylor County (4-3; 1-1)

at Russell County (4-3; 0-2)

Then, by being seeded 2nd in the District behind Southwestern, they will get one of the above teams in the 1st Round of the playoffs and then likely get Southwestern in the 2nd Round.

I think Boyle wins the next 5 or 6 games in a row.

Lincoln has a nice team but i don't see yhem playing with the big 3.

1-Danville

2-Mercer

3-Boyle

4-Lincoln

5-Casey

6-Garrard

LC gets no respect.

1.Danville

2.Mercer Co.

3.Lincoln Co.

4.Boyle Co.

5.Garrard Co.

6.Casey Co.

MERCER

DANVILLE

LINCOLN

GARRARD

CASEY

AP poll has Danville #1 in 1a , Mercer is #1 in 2a , Lincoln is #12 in 4a.

I think boyle was #11 in 3a until their loss to PSW.

And Southwestern is a pretty good 3-3 team as well.
