Who wins this 1A battle? Williamsburg will be looking to rebound after a loss. Ludlow will be looking to make a statement and get a big win over a top 10 1A team.

This is the first of two games (next against Brossart) that will show if Ludlow has any chance with Beechwood or if it will be more of the same in the District.

Even a convincing win by Ludlow over Williamsburg wouldn't exactly make me think the Panthers can beat Beechwood. However, it is nice to see a team showing signs of competing with the Tigers. I guess other than Newport Central Catholic when they were in Class A, Bellevue in 1999 is the last time Beechwood has been threatened at the top of the district.

Bellevue also beat Beechwood in 2005 i believe.

This game will be the first true test for Ludlow. Williamsburg is a good team. Ludlow will have the best player on the field though imo. I expect to see a high scoring game here.

Good call. Bellevue did beat Beechwood in 2005. Bellevue last won the district in 1999.

Yep. Beechwood was the 3 seed in 2005. Ncc was the 1 seed and Bellevue the 2 seed.

I'm taking Ludlow in the upset. 26-21

High scoring game. I'm going with Ludlow to improve to 5-0.

They beat Bracken by 3. That wasn't a test?

Bracken is a solid team. However beating Bracken and playing with Beechwood is two different things. I expected Ludlow to beat Bracken. Williamsburg imo is a better team than Bracken. So I do think this is a better indicator in that regard.

It should be a fun high scoring game to see. I do like Ludlows chances.

Bellevue played Beechwood very tough in 2009 at Bellevue also. That was the year they had Ricky Buckler at RB and a really big offensive line. It was a one score game at Bellevue on a sloppy turf till Beechwood QB Matt Rigdon broke off a long TD run late n the game to put it away for the BW Tigers. Beechwood handled Bellevue much more easily though in the playoffs on the turf at Beechwood.

Relating all this back to the thread topic, Ludlow has a dynamic back just like that Bellevue team. However, I don't see them competing with Beechwood this year. The Tigers are just too good.

This Williamsburg/Ludlow game is one of the more interesting games in the state for me this week. Games like this at this point really start showing all of us what these teams truly have. Two of the best offensive players in 1A are facing off - Ludlow's QB Justin Blackburn and Williamsburg's QB Alec Poore. They are both excellent and very different. Blackburn hurts you more with the run than the pass and Poore is the opposite.

This will be a very good and entertaining game to watch. This will be a game I will follow closely and want to know details about. Hopefully we get some good updates here on BGP throughout the game.

Very well said VOR. This will be an interesting game and it will tell us some more about teams in class A that are wanting to move up in the top 10.
