Russell schedule for next year (2007)

Still not a lot tougher. Only Ashland and SK will provide a challenge.
You can downplay it all you want, but it's exactly the type of schedule that Russell should be playing ... a good mix of regional rivals and bigger schools to complement the district slate.

Stat....I don't know how you came up with that statement  . This Russell schedule is tougher than what they have been playing. I am a Raceland fan and therefore I will leave the Rams on the schedule out of it (do not want to open any further argument). Mason - Lawrence - SK are all step ups from who they have been playing. I have to wonder how much h.s. football you have seen or read about in the past years, all of those schools mentioned have pretty good programs.

I hope all the Russell players have the same opinion as yours!!

:thumb: Good post.

I'm glad to see everyone's schedules are changing. It seems we've been in a rut the last last 2 - 4 years playing the same teams (IMO). It's going to be great to be playing different teams...

:thumb: Good post and you make a good point. I know that the last few years that Raceland has played the same teams in the same week/order for the last few years.

Nah......That is just their fans blowing out hot air. :p  (don't get excited guys, just kidding and couldn't resist that one.)

You could have tried.

The schedule looks much better with the change in the district. I would have liked to seen a game with another big name program. It is too bad it didn't work out.

You are exactly right. Fewer district games have allowed for a more competitive schedule in this case. I still don't know if we need a 6 class system but the new realignment has helped in some ways.

Some of the most memorable games that Russell has had over the years were against Mason County. I'm glad to see we are playing again.

It will make the district much more interesting. I'm glad to have the Royals back as well.

Lots of fuel, must come from the Ashland plant.

Yep. But I'm all for burning anything Ashland. :D

(Just wish we could have done it earlier this year:mad: )

As for the schedule, it is a vast improvement over this year's. I really like the

trip to Lawrence Co. and the "trip" to Raceland for the last game of the year.

But I'll be honest, I don't necessarily like the bye week in the last week of the

year. You likely will not know who you will be playing the next week until the

week before the game anyway. I suppose, though, that I'd rather have it

week 11 as opposed to week 1.

I personally would rather have a bye week in week 11 due to the fact that it would give the coaches a chance to first hand scout a possible playoff opponet / by that time you usually know within one or two teams who it will be but the #1 reason imo is that it would give a chance for any naggig injuries, soreness, bruise, etc. to ease for another week and to put a little something extra into the offense or defense that you may not have shown all season.
