The dumb penalties were bad. The way UNC's QB was able to really go after a secondary that was missing Jaire Alexander was worse. Washington got targeted a lot. Don't know that this defense has the stuff to hold down Clemson enough to win next week.

Isn't as good as the team that whipped FSU and challenged @Clemson? I agree. Isn't as good as the team that finished the season? That is a very low bar which I think they've exceeded. If Williams can establish himself as RB1 with changeup efforts from Bonnafon and Jeremy Smith (who didn't dress today), the read option with Lamar becomes a weapon. After BARELY stopping UNC on a critical 4th & goal (dude probably scores if he doesn't fumble), Cards drove 99 yards and chewed up critical clock without a single pass play. UNC knew they were going to run and they still did. That will help when opponents are studying film. Not sure how good UNC offensive line is, but UofL defensive line didn't get much pressure without help. Not sure you can be happy about out-rushing UNC 300+ to 9 when you gave up as much as the D did in the air. To allow a 1-dimensional team to do that to you is troubling. Should be interesting next week with College GameDay at Papa John's.
