September 7, 20179 yr I've never played it, but I hear Idle Hour CC in Lexington is unreal. From the tips, Idle Hour Country Club and their Ross tees is a beast. It's about 7000 yards with a par of 70. Idle Hour is always immaculate and they can get their greens rolling super fast. It is a country club atmosphere through and through.
September 7, 20179 yr I love Hurstbourne Country Club and when they have those greens running fast, it is a real challenge. I have not played Lassing Point nor Paducah CC, but I can't imagine them being a better test of golf than Champions. Lexington Country Club is in fantastic condition, and is a great country club, but I still rank Champions higher. Olde Stone should be in any top five in Kentucky. Champions and Keene Run are both part of the same club. Two courses. Not a fan of Keene Run, but I play it fairly often. Again, just my two cents. I'd rather play those two rather than Champions. Nothing against Champions at all.
September 7, 20179 yr I'm a newer golfer, Ive golfed only in northern ky and my favorite up here is hickory sticks. Willows @ kenton Co. is a good one too. Foxrun IMO isnt as good as I thought it was going to be the fairways are a not what i expected.
September 8, 20179 yr I haven't played any of the upper tier courses in the state, but from what I've played, my top three would be: 1) Kearney Hill Links 2) Pearl Club (formerly the Summit outside Owensboro) 3) Dale Hollow

September 8, 20179 yr I have played course all over that state, traveling with my job. Few private courses, my stops are usually upper/mid tier to lower tier public courses. Around here, for a public daily fee high traffic course, Houston Oaks is near the top of my list. I like the Bull as well, though it's hit and miss with a lot of other golfers. Peninsula used to be high on my list, as did Lafayette (Falls of the Rough). But conditions at both bring them way down. Falls actually closed for a season a year or two ago but has since reopened. Loved Old Silo, but it officially closed back in the spring. Was one of the best public courses in the state but fell on real hard times and owners gave up on it. Love Hidden Cove at Grayson Lakes. Tough course and sister to Dale Hollow course. Wasioto Winds in Pineville I really like but have not been there is a few years. Stonecrest in nice, unless you are a mountain goat but you better hit it straight. KY Dam Village has a soft spot in my heart, fist course I broke 100 on, and a pretty nice course too. Really really like the back 9 at Pennyrile Forrest SRP. It was built many many years after the original front 9. Front 9 is only so-so, but back 9 is stunning. Best course I have ever played in KY is Olde Stone. Played in an event there, can't afford t play there on my own. Beautiful, and hard. Never seen greens so fast, not even anything close. Forgot who it was that said above they wouldn't play Persimmon again if they paid him...I agree. Most overrated course in KY, I don't like it one bit.

Quite possibly the most beautiful 9 holes in the state. It's too bad the front nine is so dreadful.
September 8, 20179 yr I'm going down to Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg in a few weeks and I will be playing the Ripley's Old MacDonald's Farm course and Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure course. Hoping to win a free round.

September 11, 20179 yr I can't believe Cherry Blossom in Georgetown has not been mentioned. Too many houses for me. Good course though. Last 3 holes are as hard as any in the state.
September 11, 20179 yr I can't believe Cherry Blossom in Georgetown has not been mentioned. Personally not a fan, bit some like it for sure.
September 12, 20179 yr Author I'm a newer golfer, Ive golfed only in northern ky and my favorite up here is hickory sticks. Willows @ kenton Co. is a good one too. Foxrun IMO isnt as good as I thought it was going to be the fairways are a not what i expected. Fox Run used to be one of my favorite in NKY. Two years ago (I think) they sprayed something on the greens that killed them all. They replaced them but now I hear the fairways are a mess. Unfortunate.
September 12, 20179 yr Really? Why? Never been a big fan of the layout, they have a couple of really ugly holes that just seem out of place, and never a fan of a course with houses everywhere.
