I love Lassing. Where is Lexington CC? I have never been by it.

I guess I'm thinking that Valhalla must be incredible because it hosted majors and the Ryder Cup. Why do you have it 4th in the state? Just curious because I've never played it.

As you're traveling down 68 from Paris to Lexington, it's on the left a bit before you get to the I-64 ramp. It's tough to see from the road. A friend of mine (Mentsch knows him) tells me it's one of his favorite tracks in the Commonwealth.

I've never played at Valhalla but was there in 1996. The same friend got to be a forecaddie and as a perk, got to play; I believe the day after the final round of the PGA. Told me that he hit a decent drive on a long par-4 and his caddie told him, "Nice drive, Mr. ______. You have 245 yards to the pin".

Way out of my league, I hit from the golds these days. If it could play somewhere around 6,000 yards from the forward tees, I'd love to give it a shot.

Thanks for the info. I know I have been by LCC then, I have just not been on that side of town often.

Funny story about Valhalla. Those pros play a different game than we do--that's obvious. There are a few courses that I have played that are 6700 or 6800 yards and that's a lot of golf course. Can't imaging playing a 7400 yard course.

Played Vahalla, traditions and TC along with Lassing, Boone and Summit. Like all but for my game, TC is all I need from back tees

I would sub in the course in Richmond over Paducah CC, but would leave the rest unchanged. I'd also add I like the Cardinal Club and The University Club. Additionally, I wouldn't play Persimmon again for free.

Have you played Olde Stone in Bowling Green? One of our club members (the one who was in college with you) has played both Valhalla and Olde Stone and he said Olde Stone was the better and more challenging of the two courses.

I haven't played it yet. I've had tee times twice and both have been rained out.

Our old teammate is the GM down there.

Valhalla is really cool to play because of the nostalgic feel to it, but as far as the layout, it's just okay. Some really tricked up holes that you have to either hit a perfect shot or get lucky. Like the par 3, #14. The green is just a little wider than the keyboard I'm typing on right now.

In Northern Kentucky I've always enjoyed Hickory Sticks, The Willows, and Boone Links. I would say Lassing is the most humbling and I've never shot sub 90 there.

Outside of NKY I'm a fan of Gibson Bay in Richmond. I've never played a round of golf in either Lexington or Louisville!

Must not have played the Champions (Champion Trace) in Jessamine County.

I have never played Olde Stone but it is the best course in the state. Valhalla is probably second. Traditions is the best course in NKY. I'm not sure Lexington has a great course.

Multiple times actually.

Very good course, but would rather play the 5 listed. I'm a fan of Keene Run as well.

I've never played it, but I hear Idle Hour CC in Lexington is unreal.

I've heard the clubhouse is fantastic. The course is in fantastic shape, but layout is boring. I haven't played it either. Just what I've heard from people that have.

I know the question is what is your favorite course, but I can say for sure my least favorite is Boone Links. Just a flat out stupid course.

I love Hurstbourne Country Club and when they have those greens running fast, it is a real challenge. I have not played Lassing Point nor Paducah CC, but I can't imagine them being a better test of golf than Champions.

Lexington Country Club is in fantastic condition, and is a great country club, but I still rank Champions higher.

Olde Stone should be in any top five in Kentucky.

Champions and Keene Run are both part of the same club. Two courses. Not a fan of Keene Run, but I play it fairly often.
