I walk from my house to Highlands for the games. It's only about 3/4 of a mile, but there's no way I get closer parking.

 

I'd rather walk 2 miles to a high school game than get a helicopter dropoff at the 50 yard line of a NFL game

Were the NFL to "go away," college football would soon follow, since you've removed the motivation for most college FB players to even be in that sport. Our country's best athletes would see no need to risk life and limb in football without that NFL payday in their sights.

There are plenty of d2/d3 football games and I'm betting most of those players don't believe they are on their way to the nfl.

They play because they love the game.

That's when it is the most fun to watch.

I'm not disagreeing, but I think it's fair to note how many people show up to watch D2 and D3 games as compared to D-1A. Without the best of the best athletes, football becomes a lot less interesting. Kind of like how pro soccer in the US has been the "next big thing" for 40 years now and is only recently starting to take off.

Saturday is going to be ALL FOOTBALL!! Driving down to the Bowling Green vs St X game. Then find a place to hang out, eat and watch some college football on tv. Then it is on to WKU vs EKU! Mighty fine guys day out with my son and a few of his and my buddies!!

As for which one -- high school over all others. Prefer college to Pro but it could depend on who's playing. If I want to just smile and watch a day at the youth leagues helping out is a great day!

High school for many reasons: cost factor; normal Friday night game does not interfere with much (schedule those weddings the other 36 weeks of the year or find a nice "open date"); I do not need alcohol during the game; weekly renewal of friendships and less hassle with the crowds; parking is always easier for high school games; did I mention cost as a factor.

 

Fully agree. I can go to a whole season's worth of high school games for the cost of one college or pro game.

I like the traditions and dedicated fans of college. But I like high school because you are more connected to it, you know what I mean?

College is my pick.

But I confess part of this could be I never developed much interest in high school football because when I graduated from high school in 1972 my school didn't have football (still doesn't) and every county that bordered my home county didn't have football at that time either. Some of them have football now, though.

No brainer for me. A highly anticipated High School football game to me is about as good as it gets in all of sports. Fan bases on social media and message boards, media attention leading up to game, newspaper previews all contribute to the hype.

 

On night of game. Crowds showing up, small kids playing two hand touch, smoke from the grills hovering over stadium, proud alumnus catching up with one another before kickoff. The list could go on.

 

Football. All levels of football, is great. For my money, ill take highschool football.
