How was Brackens passing game?

 

Better than last year; but, still not to the threat level to keep defenses honest. QB looks like a small running back and throws like a running back. Enough said. But, he is a hard-nosed football player and does a quality job both ways. Like him, but the offensive scheme is pretty generic and rarely did you find him in position to make anything other than a contested throw.

Would the Deaton kid be better suited at QB?

Deaton would be much better suited, I thought the position was his until a week before the game. Politics is killing our teams energy and morale and if something isn't changed all teams will have to do is focus on our running game and short passes because the current qb can't throw over 25 yards. I think the coach took everything Deaton has worked for and GAVE it to his son because I don't believe he earned it and every other teammate will say the same thing.

Would not second guess this coach. Did not see any reason from last year's performance to believe Deaton would/could out-perform this QB. Candidly, Deaton had a shotgun for an arm in baseball, but that skill does not always transfer to throwing a football. Lots of factors. In my case, my hand was too small to adequately grip the ball. In 60's we were throwing footballs shaped like long basketballs.

Bear19, awfully loud 1st post. Hope you don't have an agenda. I enjoy BGP for open/valid discussions and trust that is your desire also. Wasn't it Winston Churchill that said, "We have met the enemy, and the enemy is us." Sometimes such strong comments can inadvertantly lead to a team's internal dissension rather than the desired promotion of an individual's prowess.

As for Deaton performance last year I don't recall him doing anything wrong. He made the plays he was expected to make but our running game was working but when it didn't he made plays. ON the other hand this year our qb is responsible for I believe every turnover we had not to mention the downs we lost for fumbled snaps. I know people have their opinion as well but I'm just calling it how I see from the inside. I have no problem with our qb as a person but I believe that atheletes should earn their stripes and coaches should judge players by performance aND nothing else even when it comes to family

I originally was just answering the previous post when someone asked about Deaton then it turned into a whole different discussion and I'm not trying to help or hurt anybody so sorry Oldercoach if I upset you. The fact is there a big distraction on the team and it's making its way to the field.

This game has been changed from Friday night to Thursday night at 7pm. This is due to the amount of rain Bracken county is supposed to get I assume. Look for an official message soon from Bracken and pendleton Athletic directors.

I think its too early in the season to determine that. Deaton has been a very successful quarterback. All we can do is trust Coach Brausch, he has a lot of coaching experience.
