Who wins this matchup? Bracken County lost a nail biter to Ludlow last week 27-24. They will be hungry for a win. Pendleton comes in at 2-0 and looking to beat another Class 1A team this week after beating Nicholas County last week 18-15.

All time (both teams started varsity play in 2003) Pendleton is something like 11-1. Having outscored the Polar Bears 400-100.

Pendleton County leads the series 9-1. The teams did not play in the 2007,2008, 2015, or 2016 seasons. Bracken County's only win was in that inaugural 2003 game (23-20).

Dawgs,

you mentioned on a PC thread awhile ago that Pendleton may be without a player, who may be one of their best players for the season(I believe). Is he playing?

I think you're talking about Cain Baker. He is certainly playing. I just hadn't seen him in pics of summer workouts.

Ok Bracken fans... I remember something significant happening during that 2003 game, but I can't remember what it was. Anybody help me out?

Bracken has always had trouble stopping that one athlete on any given team. Have heard that Pendleton County has a more than adequate run defense which is BC's bread and butter. If this Baker kid is as good as advertised on the offensive end, I got PC coming to Brooksville and getting the victory

He's pretty solid on the offensive side of the ball, but not the only weapon. Yardage wise he's not the leader, with only 93 yards...but he has that on 9 carries. By far the best defensive player PC has, and the best they've had since i've been around the program. As I said on my radio show last night, this game will be won in the trenches. I know BC has a huge line, but the Wildcats are strong. Too early in the week for me to give a prediction either way.

It ended on a different day than it started.

Yes...that's it. Lightning strikes...power failure...something of that nature.

Yep. Bracken had a sizable lead and had to hold on to win.

Bracken Co rolls in this one! The Wildcats will struggle to keep the Polar Bears out of the endzone. Bracken's rushing attack will be too much.

This year so far PC has stopped the run really well. So it'll be a good battle in the trenches for sure. Your confidence is uh, confident.

My gut says Bracken Co. will win this close battle of ground and pound. But, the Bears will have to come with more energy than they had against Ludlow and do a better job of offensive play calling at crunch time. Had Panthers on the ropes and were in control late in game......very questionable time to get cute with 3rd and 2. Eventual turnover on downs was a backbreaker. Defensive breakdown on game winning 69 yard TD pass was affected by momentum shift. Panther's energy level not to be denied. They wanted and won this game. Blackburn was a one-man wrecking crew. Doubt they will see one better until playoffs. Polar Bears need to discover that Ludlow energy level to produce the type of season they were expecting.
