Tragedy at Ohio State Fair

One report is that more than one have died now.

As a kid, the one rule at fairs from my parents were no rides. I could ride all day long at KI but was not allowed on any rides at fairs. They thought any ride set up in a day shouldn't be trusted. I was always so bummed because all my friends ride the rides.

When I was a very little girl, my sisters and I got stuck on the top of a ferris wheel at a church festival. I can still remember the fireman who came to get us.

It always stayed with me. I wonder what kind of scrutiny the people who rent to festivals are put up against.

I can't imagine ever riding one of these rides. They scream unsafe.

From what I have seen 4 different inspectors gave it the all clear. Seems to be just a freak accident. Mechanical things break. Tragic still.

Why in the world would this ride require four separate inspections?

Pretty common practice to have multiple people inspect these kinds of things. Kings Island at one time had over 50 inspectors assigned to them to check things daily.

Parking lot rides and rides set up in a field are sketchy at best. Sad incident.

Heck, we got stuck on top of Big Thunder Mountain at Disney world once. Had to walk down the catwalk to get off.

Kissel Brothers used to come to the Newport shopping center all the time. Zero chance I was getting on one of those rides.

We got stuck on Splash Mointain. We had to walk quite a while to get out and ended up in a back lot when we eventually got out.
