13th Region ?????

Featured Replies

We see a lot on here about the 12th, 14th, and 15th Region but what about the 13th Region this upcoming season? Does anyone have a chance vs. South and if so, who and why? What can we look for from within this region? The talk is Jackson County, Bell County, Cumberland and of course South. Who are the other top teams and can any of them make a run as well? The region is at Corbin so don't count out the Hounds'.

I think South Laurel is still heads above the rest of the region. Everyone else is fighting for second place.

I gotta agree with this. They've still got talent heads and tails above the rest.

Corbin will be a whole lot better than people think and the region is at Corbin. Also, OBI, yes OBI, might be better from what I've been told.

South Laurel is the favorite, but it seems like the region is more wide open than its been in some time now. Itll be interesting to see how things develop.

Corbin has to make it to the region to get that homecourt advantage, which will not be as easy as it use to be with South Laurel in the district plus Whitley and Williamsburg will both be much improved next year. I expect Corbin to make it though.

South Laurel is still the best team, but perhaps some of the other contenders can put up more of a fight this year.

Bell County and Cumberland were impressive over the summer, and Jackson County has its best team in several years. Pineville, Corbin, Cawood and Harlan were good at times and not so good at others.

Corbin has some nice, young talent, but they're probably a year away.

Did OBI add some more players? I saw them lose by about 50 over the summer at the LMU camp.

I agree HDE, nice breakdown.

I have a question about Cumberland..Who do they have coming back and who will be their main scoring threat this season?? Do they have anyone who'll be a top 10 player in the region?? Just trying to gain a little more knowledge before basketball season tips off.:thumb: Thanks

Junior center Desmond Johnson will be ranked in the top 10 in the region.

Senior guard Kyle Simpson was one of the best shooters I saw this summer. Brock Leisge, a junior, is solid at point guard and is a very good defender. Brooks Hogue, also a junior, can play guard or forward and is one of the hardest working players you'll see in the region.

The other spot is up for grabs. Sophomores Zach Blanton and Paul David Creech played a lot in the summer, and senior Michael Washington could win that spot if he comes out for the team after football.

They sound like they'll be tough for the next two seasons. How big is the Johnson kid??

Johnson goes about 6-4 or 6-5

OBI is always adding and losing players. You can never count them in or out.

It seems the consensus is South is the favorite by a lot. But how would you rank 2-5?

1. South Laurel

2. Bell County

3. Cumberland

4. Corbin

5. Jackson
