June 28, 20179 yr That's a health care issue not an insurance problem. Insurance companies are just trying to cover their losses. You're missing it, the reason those cost are inflated is because of the insurance regulations and compliance, take that away, no inflated cost.

So let's not try to play the constitutional card. It is not just about protecting our geographical borders, but projecting strength to avoid another conflict like WWII. That has been a mission of ours since WWII. We decided that after trying to stay out of two world wars, it would be better to be involved in the world arena and try to stop such conflicts before they started. Doing so has not been cheap in dollars or lives. But, hopefully cheaper than a world war. I have always believed in TR's quote, " Speak softly, but carry a big stick." Today's "big stick" is very expensive.

Our lesson was that we looked at the events leading up to either world war and try to use that knowledge with current happenings to develop policies to prevent another world war. Our focus for 45 years was the "evil empire" of the old USSR and its satellites. Now it would be China or the despot in N. Korea. It is a bit like being a boy scout, be prepared.
June 29, 20179 yr I agree. Plenty of corporate welfare out there. There is corporate welfare out there, but do not confuse it with tax deductions. Too many see tax breaks as welfare. Tax deductions just allow an individual or business to keep the money that they earned.

It allows for the free flow of trade that creates jobs and wealth, not just for us, but for our trading partners as well. With a flourishing trade, the possibility of war is lessened.

Its interesting that there is another thread in this forum about a political 'government' figure - who happens to be the daughter of a former Federal Reserve chairman. The intertwining of the government and the (private) Federal Reserve bank can be interesting - and disturbing.

I'm not disagreeing that a cut back in regulation of the insurance industry would make premiums go down, but not anywhere near the costs you are pulling out of thin air. 10-15% tops. The bulk of healthcare costs still come from the expenses needed to cover the costs of the healthcare providers not the insurance providers.
