Healthcare Ideologies?

I don't believe this is true.

It's definitely cheaper if you take insurance companies out of it, but it's not by 50%.

Not even close to 50%. 10-15% is far more accurate.

Taking the insurance companies out complete is minimum 50% of the cost, then take out the hospital regulation staff assigned to deal with insurance companies and you are talking a lot more. Maybe a hospital or medical person can clue us in on how much cost is involved in this, but its more than any of us truly realize I bet.

I will compare it to where I work. Since I start here our company has grown by 40% ish give or take (talking in terms of personnel). All of that is due to one thing, compliance, due to regulations. It's the same thing with insurance.

Not even close to 50%. 10-15% is far more accurate.

Your also forgetting that without insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, medical places will have to now compete for your business again, bringing down pricing. Unlike now where the insurance companies regulate the pricing.

I'd absolutely love to hear where you're getting these numbers from....

I don't know if his exact numbers are accurate but I believe the cut would be drastic. Health Care costs continue to rise because Insurance props up the costs and the money keeps coming. I compare it to how all these guaranteed student loans allow colleges to raise tution at will.

If it does they are horrible business people.

There's a long historic precedent of free market capitalism doing just that.

25% is drastic. 50% is insane.

I can tell you based on a situation that my wife's family is going through right now that it isn't 50%, at least not for a major procedure.

It's sizeable, but no where close to 50%.

Or six figures, like my relatively recent 2-week stay at the Christ Hospital and Spa cost? Or will some deregulation make that sort of thing nothing more expensive than a used car?

Nothing is going to make it drastically cheaper. Only reducing the quality would do that. What can be cheaper is the access to it. Healthcare is expensive and it's always going to be expensive. American Healthcare is like a Mercedes Benz and much of the rest of the world is driving beat up pintos. You need to be able to get health insurance, you shouldn't have it provided to you for free.

The only historic precedent of free market capitalism is that it flourishes until government interferes. Trickle Down Economics is the best ideology for both consumers and businesses.

Insurance companies do not regulate the pricing for health services. That's undeniably false. If they did it would be much cheaper. You think they like having to pay massive claims?

Again cutting out artifical inflation of the costs associated with healthcare would bring drastic cost cuts. The deregulation would be a short term impact on cost. Removing the artifical inflation is a long term benefit to everyones pocket book.

College tuition is rising because the costs for universities are going up not because they are attempting to make a larger profit. They are covering their losses while retaining the same profit levels.

That's a health care issue not an insurance problem. Insurance companies are just trying to cover their losses.

This entire post is incorrect. Colleges spend money and are building at record rates because tution is guaranteed by the Federal government. This isn't an opinion it's an economic facts. Cut out Student Loans and see how the spending changes and tution rates rise at a much slower pace.

There is no reason for tution to rise at 2to 4 times actual inflation. There is no economic reasoning behind it. Colleges spend money like they are at a club with a Black Card.

Cut out student loans and you have no colleges. I understand colleges are spending money left and right. It's ridiculous how much they are building. Hell, UK has built like 15 new dorms in the past 3 years. It's crazy. But they are also admitting a record number of people as well. I understand what you mean, but back to the topic of the thread.
