Holy Cross at Dayton predictions

Featured Replies

Holy Cross looks to stay undefeated in Class A district play against the Greendevils. Holy Cross thrashed Bellevue last week in the first and only half played.

Is this the "upset" game Dayton has been looking for the last couple of years? Can Dayton throw the ball on the HC defense to keep the Indians from keying on QB Hightchew's running ability?

Can Dayton's defense which was run over by NCC last week stop the Holy Cross running attack?

How much will home field help the Greendevils?

I will be pulling for the Greendevils but IMO the Indians win this game 34-12

Holy Cross, unfortunately, will win this one. I would love to see Dayton pull off the upset, but I just don't think they have enough to make it happen. HC 28-6.

Holy Cross keeps rolling...

HC 28-14

This is not just directed at APNW, but in general...

this is about the third or fourth time this has been reffered to this season. i know their coach talked about it a lot in various articles etc. but will that game actually be that game.

I know first the Grant County game was that upset they needed because they were playing a 3A school. They scored that one. But then Newport was that game, because at that time Newport was still thought to have one of the best offenses in the state. They played right with them. Then the Lloyd game was that upset they needed because Lloyd has been a perennial state 2A power and they not only got that victory, but did it convincingly by 20. How many of those upsets do they need to score before "that game" the one they have been talking about, has actually passed. It seems they keep passing the ones we are putting them to and so then we find more....

IMO Dayton has not scored the "upset win" that their coach has referred to.

He said (paraphrasing) that "Dayton has beaten the teams they should or could beat but have not defeated a team they shouldn't beat in the recent years".

To me Grant County and Lloyd this year are not those teams and I believe they are not the teams the coach is looking to beat that they should not.

I got to think he is referring to Beechwood or NCC or maybe even Holy Cross this year. Those are teams that Dayton normally would not beat when those teams are having their normal "up" years and an upset win over one of them is what he needs to ignite the program.

Holy Cross 20-7.

It is also Homecoming for Dayton and the 40th anniversary of the 1966 State Championship Greendevil team.

Dayton was very good in the mid 60's.

IMO Dayton has not scored the "upset win" that their coach has referred to.

I agree. Eventhough they got some quality wins, they were picked to win those games. It looks like from the picks on this page, they arent suppose to win. BUT THEY WILL!!! This will lead them into knocking off Beechwood. Which would qualify as an upset win only because they havent done it in a long time, regardless of the talent levels. Anytime you get the monkey off your back against a team that has gotten the best of you for a while its a big win.

I'll say 21 - 13 D TOWN in a thriller on hell's half acre!!

I dont think when he said that he was talking about those teams at all. Yeah Im sure he would love to beat those teams, but I believe he was talking about the Grant Countys and Lloyd's. Dayton has not been a good team for awhile, but they have started to improve the last few years under this year, but I dont think he was expecting them to go beat a Beechwood or NCC. The wins over programs like Grant and Lloyd are good wins for a Dayton program rebuilding themselves. Its wins over those teams that will get the program ignited to where maybe in the future they could start to compete with the NCC and Beechwoods. So wins over Grant and Lloyd are football programs that they shouldn't be able to beat but did. These wins IMO are the wins he was talking about because it shows how the Dayton program keeps improving...

Wow Dayton just got beat by NCC pretty good and HC beat NCC, and then now you also say Dayton will beat Beechwood also...I think you getting a little ahead of your self here. Dayton is a better team this year but they wont beat Beechwood. I think they match up better with HC than they do NCC or Beechwood however. So I think that since the game is at Dayton that they will be able to keep it close, but HC will end up being to much for them in the end.

Holy Cross 24

Dayton 6

ill say hc by at least 3 td's if not more..... dayton wont be able to stop the running or passing attacks from the indians
